Sorry if it's old news, but I just found this:

HOUSTON, TEXAS (FEB. 15, 2008) – The Greater Houston Partnership has converted the candidate portion of its Feb. 28 Houston’s Presidential Summit into a format that will allow direct and substantive speeches by the candidates.
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-NY, and Rep. Ron Paul, R-Lake Jackson, have agreed to participate and deliver addresses before a large audience and on national television. MSNBC has agreed to cover the event and has the capability to take the candidates' speeches live coast to coast.
The event, “America’s Energy Future: Houston’s Presidential Summit,” is hosted by The Greater Houston Partnership.
We believe this format will provide much more in-depth and substantive exploration of vital issues such as energy that are paramount to voters here and throughout the United States,” said Jeff Moseley, president and chief executive officer of the Greater Houston Partnership. “Also, not all of the candidates were able to participate in a debate format, and this change makes it possible for any and all leading candidates to attend.”
Houston has become pivotal to the heated Texas primary, which takes place on March 4, just days after Houston’s Presidential Summit.
“We’re very pleased that Sen. Clinton and Congressman Paul see the importance of coming to Houston, the world’s energy capital, to discuss America’s energy future,” said Moseley. “We hope other candidates will accept our invitation to be here as well.”
Houston’s Presidential Summit is just part of what will be a daylong event. It will also feature a luncheon with a keynote address by an internationally-recognized guest, an energy symposium that will headline world-renowned speakers and energy executives, and an array of energy-related exhibits furnished by leading energy suppliers that showcase cutting-edge technologies and innovations.

So it's just Dr. Paul vs. Hillary? And they're making it more fair with longer speaking times?!?! It's too good to be true....someone please burst my bubble before I get too giddy.

He's already submitted legislation.

Government regulations, taxes, and corporate subsidies have distorted the energy market, causing some prices to rise above what they would be in the free market, while artificially lowering other prices and discouraging conservation. The costs of energy subsidies are hidden in your tax bill so the government can silently withhold them from your wallet with each paycheck.

As president, I will work to restore a free-market in energy. In particular, I will work with Congress to repeal federal regulations and taxes that impede the development of new energy sources. Such policies give government bureaucrats the power to pick winners and losers, and cause resources to be devoted to those producers with the most political clout rather than to the producers who are best able to meet the needs of consumers. Alternative sources should prove their viability in the free market. Any source that truly is cheaper and cleaner, yet still reliable, will not need government help to develop or sell.

Returning to a free market in energy will encourage conservation as well as the development of new forms of energy. In a free market, conservation occurs naturally when property rights are strictly enforced to prevent pollution and because resources become more costly as they become scarcer.

I have cosponsored legislation designed to encourage the development of alternative energy. H.R. 550 extends the investment tax credit to solar energy property and qualified fuel cell property, and H.R. 1772 provides tax credits for the installation of wind energy property.

Nuclear energy can also provide the American people with a reliable and environmentally sound alternative. Therefore, I will repeal federal regulations that hinder the development of nuclear energy. However, I will also repeal all federal subsidies and privileges granted the nuclear industry. Nuclear power should prove its worth in the free-market.

Clean, safe, and reliable energy is far too important to leave to the political whims of Washington bureaucrats.

Key phrase, I think. It's probably going to be several separate speeches. If it was a debate, Hillary would NEVER go up against Ron. She fuckin' KNOWS he would seriously shit on her face.

This is great! I really hope Paul's entire speech is aired. Awesome!

Ron Paul 2008!

Ok, I didn't know he had legislation on it, and would have assumed it was similar to the above.

But, will joe six pack get this? You know Hillary is going to have a dumbed down "We need to get off oil and go to renewable sources because its better for the environment and everyone" with no real substance.

I just hope he nails it in a way that the voters we haven't been connecting with can grasp.

It is only a 1-hour event according to the RP2008 campaign page: 9p - 10p.

I just says that they'll deliver addresses on the issue. Will it be an actual debate/forum or are they just giving speeches?

I think so. Dr. Paul has pointed out the inefficiency of ethanol from corn and how it's only worth it to process the corn into ethanol if you're subsidizing it. Without government subsidies, it costs more to make the ethanol than the ethanol's worth. I waited a year for it, but he finally added on the drastically better efficiency of ethanol production from hemp. It is impossible to do now, though, because even non-THC hemp is illegal to grow in the U.S., but it is legal to import it from other countries. I personally did the math, and we could supply the entire nation with fuel growing hemp on 3/4 of the land that the government is currently PAYING farmers not to grow on. It's my little energy solution and Dr. Paul is the only politician to ever speak the truth on the matter. I wish I could get a message to Dr. Paul, though. I feel that the hemp issue could lead to his position on the drug war, and I never wanted that broadly broadcasted. The sheeple just aren't ready for it. If someone could tell him to substitute sugarcane for the hemp, he could use the same example. The only problem is that we don't have enough land with a suitable climate for the scale of sugarcane production that we would require. The sheep don't know that, though, and the only ones who could call him on that are the other candidates/moderators, and I doubt they'd be informed enough to point out that problem. Then Dr. Paul wouldn't have to even bring up hemp.

it would be sad and funny because DR paul would be asking Hillery all of the in dept questions about how she would fix things, and hillery would be a broken record of saying free health care, free school and more jobs, all things she can not make good on ...
