Did anyone watch the Colbert Report last night?

______

You know something? I'm an immigrant. LEGAL. Living here over 37 years. I learned to speak English. Course I came here at age 5. My mother was 24 years old and she learned to speak English and always worked with english speaking folks.

I have NO PROBLEM with Ron Paul NOT having any Ads in spanish, directed to the Hispanic Community.

It's PHONEY to me to have a Politician who isn't fluently bilingual, trying to win votes just by having a spanish ad...VOTE FOR ME, LISTEN I CAN SPEAK SPANISH.

I'm in NYC and BLOOMBERG's Spanish HURTS BY EARS.

Good thinking..:) What I want to know is what that chuka cabra thing is..? Do you know? I thought the sketch was in good fun..especially the punch line.."press 1 for English? What is going ON with this country??" (in an overly squeaky RP voice..It cracked me up.. the family thing was silly--not near as funny.. but Colbert holds nothing sacred and I like what I have seen of him..

It's a mythical creature from central america. It is blamed for killing goats and livestock (we just attribute it to aliens up here...)

From wiki:
Chupacabra (also chupacabras /tʃupa'kabɾas/, from Spanish chupar: to suck, cabra: goat; goat sucker)

They ran this tonight on Fox News (they called it "the craziest campaign ad ever"), and everyone had a good laugh.

Too bad the only time Fox News can mention Ron Paul is in a completely negative light. I mean, immediately after airing the video (and between chuckles) the host managed to get out "Fair and Balanced".

My question is, if they are so "Fail and Balanced", why won't they show the video of the Ghoul that we've made (obviously in parody) that compares him to the classic vampire? Or any of the other myriad of videos making fun of the other candidates? (That's a rhetorical question, BTW).

Yeah..and it is not so funny that if you want to send money Western Union, it is cheaper to send it to Mexico than it is to send it somewhere else in the US. What's WRONG with this country?? :<

Oh..good..lol thanks..

I guess it might be funny for the average viewer, but I've been pretty focused on the negative campaigning against RP lately so it didn't play too well with me. Maybe some other time.

I don't think he means any more harm to us than to anyone else. Only looks like a lack of humour if we can't play along. But in case you don't get it, just smile and shake your head- that's all that's needed.

You guys are like crack addicts with your tv. You really should break the habit and grow up.

everyone -- It's Colbert. It was hilarious. Don't worry about it.

rockwell -- I respect you and you're one of the best voices of reason on these boards, but I disagree about totally unplugging from the tv. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

I've gotta give Colbert the benefit of the doubt here. The WGA strike does put a lot of pressure on the show hosts, who are used to a team of writers who are well-seasoned in crafting current political humor. Nowadays, if they aren't just winging it entirely, these bits are being slapped together by anyone they can find to do it who sounds even remotely funny... like secretaries and PAs.

Good comedy writing is actually quite difficult.

It was totally satire, and not against Paul at all. Colbert is on our team.

I wish the admins would move this out of the Bad Media Reporting section, nothing bad about a Colbert bump!

Gotta go with the ones that are saying get a sense of humor.

Colbert makes fun of everyone...seriously. Even huckabee, who he's given as much good press as he's given Paul, has been joked upon a bit.

Its why HE'S A COMEDIAN.

If you can't stand a comedian making a few jokes about your candidate then really why are you even bothering with politics. No one is above critisim or joking and the president is always subject to tons of it. If you can't deal with that how are you going to deal with things if Paul happens to actually get the presidency?

Yes, I saw it and thought, okay, it's Colbert...

Has anyone seen the Wednesday nite Daily Show with John Stewart. Looks like Comedy Central has eliminated Ron Paul from the race.

It's funny how you can look at certain anchors and like them. I used to like Scarborough and Chris Matthews, until I realized that they are just another two sell out, traiterous pricks that do as they are told to further the political propaganda. I can hardly stand to listen to ANY of them anymore.
