Alec Baldwin mentioned Dr. Rand Paul as his good friend in a live skit. Looked un-rehearsed, ad lib. Strange indeed, but the whole skit turned out to be strange as hell, but nonetheless Rand was name-dropped.

Ad lib or not they made a mistake. They were acting as if it was October 2012 and the implication was that Rand was still practicing medicine at the time. Except for the fact that he was elected two years earlier. Oops.

Yeah, it was kinda odd. Didn't really seem positive or negative.

Tracy Morgan was the host, and during his monologue he said there was an old episode of the show 30 Rock from 2012 where his character almost died that was prophetic.

Then they cut to the fake old scene pretending to be from 2012... Alec Baldwin's character hangs up the phone and says, "That was my good friend Dr. Rand Paul, he says Tracy technically died for 7 minutes".

Not really sure why he used Rand's name... but I guess any mention is good, even if it's just a random name drop.

Starts at 1:45

Off topic, but Larry David as Bernie Sanders during the debate was gold. He comes out at 2:10.

On 30 Rock, Jack Donaghy (Baldwin's character) was a hardcore republican, so it would make sense for him to name drop a well known republican.

Chevy Chase said he never tried to realistically impersonate Gerald Ford. Dana Carvey said he sorta did with Bush, but not really. After Will Ferrell did GW, it started a weird relationship between the show and politicians; it helps them to go on the show and demonstrate they can take a joke or something.
