Horrible ad. Why are people voting for Romney? Poll after poll says its because people say he has the best chance to defeat Obama. This ad actually makes Romney appear more attractive to independents/liberals, so what's a simple minded rightwing voter going to do who REALLY wants to unseat Obama? Even though it's counterintuitive, he'll vote for Romney just like he voted for McCain. If Newt was smart he would pick an issue that independents/rightwingers/himself can all agree on and attack Romney on that (an issue) and not this character nonsense like 'speaking French'.

Paul on the other hand needs to convince the rightwing voter that he can defeat Obama. He needs to bring up the CBS poll...needs to bring up his strength with independents in polls, his strength with young voters (Obama's base) and how he'll ask the tough questions of Obama in debates...this can help Paul a lot.

Beaucoup de gens détestent les Français... Maybe, they're trying to correlate that. Everyone I know at least on the East Coast usually bash the French. Two of my friends who learned German in high school said they hate the French.

Yes, it's called Americans.

No seriously -- a lot of Americans just hate French people for some reason I don't know the history of.

Especially "salt of the earth" types in places like SC and the midwest -- it's largely the same kind of stereotype as hating liberal moccha late-drinking New York liberals.

I'm not defending any of the above btw, just saying that, yes, Romney speaking French plays about as well in SC as Huntsman speaking Chinese at the debate.
