Wow, this is unbelievable and unconstitutional. While it's aimed at Trump, it would apply to anyone holding the presidency.

In an unusual session held on Super Bowl Sunday, the US Senate voted to move forward a substantial $95 billion aid package that will support Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, with no southern border security provisions. The package includes $60 billion for Ukraine and $14 billion for Israel. The vote garnered support from RINOs, with a final tally of 67-27.

According to The Hill, Schumer offered Republicans the chance to vote on amendments in exchange for expediting the legislative process.

“By a vote of 67-27, The Senate invoked cloture on Murray substitute amendment 1388 to H.R.815, legislative vehicle for supplemental appropriations,” the Senate Press Gallery wrote on X.

Sixty-seven senators voted in favor of war funding, while 27 senators opposed the expenditure, all of whom were Republicans.

On Super Bowl Sunday, the following 18 Republican senators supported the Ukraine war funding:

Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV)
Bill Cassidy (R-LA)
Susan Collins (R-ME)
John Cornyn (R-TX)
Joni Ernst (R-IA)
Chuck Grassley (R-IA)
John Kennedy (R-LA)
Mitch McConnell (R-KY)
Jerry Moran (R-KS)
Markwayne Mullin (R-OK)
Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)
Mitt Romney (R-UT)
Mike Rounds (R-SD)
Dan Sullivan (R-AK)
John Thune (R-SD)
Thom Tillis (R-NC)
Roger Wicker (R-MS)
Todd Young (R-IN)
The legislation passed cloture in a rare Super Bowl Sunday vote.

On Monday morning Trump-supporting Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) posted a stunning report on X. According to Senator Vance, the Senate funding package includes language that makes it impossible for President Trump to terminate the Ukraine War funding into his second term.

(above ripped from GLP post which is a mash up from more than one source)

Making anything that is not changeable seems like it goes against what USA would have been founded on. What gives people today the right to say this cannot be changed?
It is too bad that so much governing nowadays has to be litigated in the courts.

It's crazy that they think they can get away with something like this. It is absolutely unconstitutional. Thing is, even if the SCOTUS agreed with something this outrageous, which I don't believe they would, it's still unconstitutional. They pulled this same thing with NATO, also aimed at Trump, just recently, with legislation saying a president cannot pull the US out of NATO with congress approving it. The constitution gives congress no such authority. It simply says in Article II sec 2: "He shall have power, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, to make treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur". The House of Representatives isn't even included in there and though it says nothing about pulling out of a treaty, it would seem to follow that, at the very least, a president could withdraw from one in the same way (with agreement of two thirds of the Senate). This is something that pisses me off about Trump. He could have taken the US out, or tried to, while he was in office but he chickened out. He might not have been able to pull it off but he should have tried.

If Trump won the election, which I don't think will happen, this is meaningless. The idea that Trump can end a war between two foreign powers is ridiculous.

It's about the funding and the war is a proxy war in which the US is the instigator and Ukraine the proxy so Trump could end it, if elected, because nobody else is going to fund Ukraine.

This is happening because they know he will win.
They are trying another Hail Mary play to set up an impeachment and removal.

Right. They are calculating that it is better to have Trump win and be impotent for four years than it would be for Biden to win again. They can start fresh in 2028. The Senate map in 2026 is ghastly for Republicans and half of them hate Trump anyway. How this is not obvious is beyond me.

It isn't obvious because he wasn't impotent last time, he was downright useful to their evil plans. His supporters just call him impotent because they ran out of other excuses.

He won't be impotent this time, that's why they want to set up an impeachment and removal.

LOL

Utterly ridiculous, he was not impotent, just opposed by the entire swamp, and he still did heavy damage to their plans.

He destroyed the dollar, and with it the middle class, built the military up for WWIII and put a hundred million vials in Biden's hands that rewrote the DNA of God's children in Bill Gates' image. He broke ground for the trans mutilation campaign.

The only agenda item he failed on was convincing Thomas Massie to stand down and let Pelosi trash the Constitution. And we know he did try.

I know lots and lots of rank and file Americans who got their plans destroyed.

Nope.
That's a ridiculous twisting of events and you know it.

I knew it wouldn't be long before the TDS brigade made their appearance.

He is so useful that they want to remove him from the ballot, bankrupt him and send him to prison. But I'm sure you will explain to me how that is all just part of Trump and the left's 4,000D chess plan.
