Democrats receive millions in donations from unemployed?

I was reviewing www.opensecrets.org, a site which gathers information about various political contests / campaigns, including harvesting information from the FEC regarding campaign contributions. I decided to do a search on "not employed" as the employer and found some very interesting information.

Apparently unemployed people, home makers, and students have been donating large, lump sums of thousands of dollars to the candidates in the Democratic party. By comparison the Republican candidates have virtually no "unemployed" donors. Most have less than 5.

Huckabee had 0, Romney had 4 (2 of which are from the same person on different dates), McCain had 1, Ron Paul had 4 (3 of which are from the same person on different dates) and Fred had 5 (3 from the same guy on different dates).

You can see the results here:
Barrack Obama's unemployed donors
Hillary Clinton's unemployed donors
John Edwards' unemployed donors

Aside from these Democratic "front runners", this trend isn't seen with the other Democrat candidates. For example, Mike Gravel had 0 unemployed donors. Bill Richardson had 68.

And do your own searches here:donor search

It might be housemaker wives trying to hide the employers of their husbands from scrutiny. I found that some Fox News wives gave money and lots of it to Clinton.

Are they often womens names? (not trying to be sexist, it could be the other way around too)

Hmm... how are these people donating more than their limit?

Okay so they're retired or houswives, big deal. When the welfare rats start donating is when I get mad.

A portion of that is for the general election. You can donate X amount for the primaries and X amount for the general election. I'm under the impression that they can't touch the general election funds unless they win the primary. Others know way more about this than me, though.
