"Democrat Dictator" tries to ban me from sidewalk @ GOP debate

I don't get it. He admits, "You're good here." and indicates that he doesn't want to be filmed, but your reply is, "What are you gonna do about it? You gonna stop me?" Nice. No wonder people think we're a bunch of assholes.

Do people really think that?

I have a lot of respect for Dave Ridley, but I must admit that this was just rude.

It's pretty embarrassing that the other guy was very polite, and obviously didn't want to be recorded.....it's not like he was doing anything wrong, or trying to hide anything. Why record him?

Just because you have the right to do something doesn't mean that you have to apply it in every instance.

You have to use, and stand up for your rights in order to keep them, but you don't have to throw them around like rocks and hit people on the head with them.

Don't really care who the guy is in the tape or not - he told you there was no issue, you continued to instigate him.
Case in point why the Ron Paul people get a bad rap...

This wasn't a truth squad, it was a Presidential debate. Come on now, sir...

Did anyone notice the interesting bit of Social engineering (done with the editing) @ 1.03?

Just before this clip there was text that saying that the volunteer "Chases me down"

The video then shows a still clip of the person in question walking up the street with the audio quietly playing the word "Sir!" to give the impression that the volunteer was far away and ran up to Dave Ridley.

This is actually quite false. The clip is actually from a point taken later on in the video when the man walks down the street to talk to the police officer and then returns.

From the context of the actual footage, it looks like Dave was standing in a the middle of a group of workers and volunteers. One of those workers (Politely) asked him to move and also requested that he not be filmed. So, In actuality, it appears that Dave was heavily engaged in the conversation at the point where the coverage begins. Was he just in the way and obstructing the work that was being done? Dave seems to acknowledge this by saying "I'm not interested in being in anybody's way" which makes me think that he knew exactly what the problem was.

What actually happened? I guess that we'll never know.

So much for the "transparency" that Dave mentions in this segment.

That was just dickish. Sorry to ruin David Ridley's fun, but that's not called standing up for your rights. That's called being an asshole. Those weren't government goons. Those were citizens helping out who would just prefer not to be taped. It's not like there was something super secret going on there. He was just standing in everyone's way and then taping people who he had no business taping. That's just rude and stupid. Add being confrontational to that and you have a major league asshole.

Is the intern in the video a journalist?

Better yet, is he in a position of authority? What is he doing trying to chase people of the side walk? Is he an 80 year old man with a broom in his front yard? No, he's an "intern" at a public event.

If you don't want people to tape your irrationality maybe you should stop trying to have them removed from public sidewalks. He brought this on himself. If he would have left well enough alone he wouldn't be in this situation.

He works for the event as an intern, and part of his job is obviously to see if people have the proper clearance to get in. The intern asked if the guy had a pass, and he said he was not sure if he had the proper pass. The intern then said that he is pretty sure that he is supposed to leave if he is not sure, and then went and checked to see if it was ok. Once the intern was told it was alright to let the guy in, he let him in.

What an asshole.

He volunteers to help then thinks he has the authority to tell you what to do. Hopefully he is not a future cop! Imagine what he can do with a gun and badge?
Ya guy was acting like a democrat telling everyone else what to do as if. He had it coming to him. I didnt here him say he was sorry just more fake authority "Ya youre good you can stay here" . Theres a lot of angry people in the country who cheer what he did. Im one of them.

"yeah, yeah, freedom." - That guy.
exactly. that volunteer said it all when he said that. He epitomizes the attitude of the establishment yet there are some in this thread that come to his defense. This attitude the volunteer displayed needs to be squashed quickly, consistently and with at least equal retaliation every time.

Nice rationalization. We all realize that blowback is a bitch, but one of these days we will understand that it works both ways.

"If you don't want people to tape your irrationality"...? Who's being irrational? What's the irrational act committed here? Who brought what on whom? I tend to think the man taping everything and trying to start a confrontation was the one who had it coming. That guy was not aggressive at all and he just kept on acting like he was some authority telling him not to feed his children or something stupid like that. Who is he protecting by being an asshole on a sidewalk that has absolutely no government involvement? Here's a volunteer trying to do his job and not forcing anyone to do anything, and the guy acts like a simple request to turn off his camera is a threat or something. If I were him I would have been a lot less polite about it if some stranger started acting like that to me.

I can't believe you guys sympathize with this kind of thuggery. The guy was talking to just another citizen on his own level. That guy wasn't a cop or anything, he was just trying to help organize the event. I'm as much of an activist as the next guy, but I don't try to make it harder for those people. You could just see the frustration on his face because he was trying not get upset at the guy filming and just asking him politely to stop filming. I don't know why you defend this because the guy filming wasn't revealing any big government goon doing something corrupt. He was harrassing some dude who told him he could stand there and then yelled at him when he ASKED him to stop taping. He didn't order anyone to do anything. He was just trying to obtain his own privacy. The guy filming and poking around for trouble is just a low-life.
