Mitt Romney DeMint is "excited" by prospect of Mitt as nominee

jim demint warming up to mitt romney after the flying leap jeb bush made onto the rolling bandwagon
perhaps keeps in play the idea that he could become mitt's veep choise come tampa. mitt has a good
chance at unseating barack obama. jim demint has never said he is an untraditional politician. he may
be one of the better number two guys for mitt romney. the ticket would be regionally balanced. if they
are sucessful, the only total rEVOLUTIOn plus is that we get to run jack hunter for sen. jim demint's seat.
i expect that mitt romney has a high probability of narrowly loosing to barack obama when they both try
to outspend each other. not all the delegates that are a tipover for the GOP nomination are in mitt's camp
yet, he only has an edge right now. i think its difficult for someone to surpass him, but it may be easy to
keep him at a thousand delegate ceiling if his campaign people glom onto more toys from the 1950s & 60s.

tim johnson. i dunno his voting record but he endorsed ron paul.
hope you're not implying santorum is halfway decent on economic issues....

I don't think he's a fake. He's just accepting reality. Romney will be the nominee. And I suppose Rand won't object to it as well. That's the way the process played out.

i wonder if Demint is planning to run in '16? He seems to have been trying to reach out to us lately. ala reason interview.
if mitt ends up with the big nod in tampa, it does behoove the GOP to ensure that House and Senate candidates
are not lead to a fall slaughter at the ballot box. the GOP is going to want a ticket that does not smell like a big
trunk full of dead rodents most recently arrived. the pressure is going to be on for a party unity as half the party
gets their 2016 track shoes on. barack obama does not have a big sizzling scandal on him but does have a big war
chest for mediablitzing. he and mitt would be on a very familiar and remote landscape. if ron paul decides to perhaps
go third party, assuming the tampa convention is not brokered in any hurry, then i will back him to the hilt. this is not
over, we may actually see the highly improbable being pulled off in tampa, so i feel anything is possible!!! que sera sera.

I'm almost certain he is. I'm sure there will be plenty of discussions between him and Rand about it.

I would much prefer Rand over Demint.
Demint doesn't have a good track record in my eyes and on top of that he is synonymous with the bush administration.
I think Rand is a much more electable candidate.

I think his political career is over. He doesn't want any part of the presidency. What you're seeing transpiring is that he's trying to pass the torch of resistance to Lee and Rand.

If by "has his hands full" you mean he's "sucking up for a prospective leadership position in the current establishment" then I would agree.

Insider Demitt ! O' Demint. Yes of course those two would be bud's as they are both involved with mountains of money. An 84 yr old Woman told me she wanted Ron Paul as President but would like to see Mitt Romney as Vice President. That would secure the Nomination and The Presidency. It may also put Mitt Romney in the White House For Four years as Vice President with Ron Paul and Eight years as President. Twelve years total.

I think DeMint's reaching out to us a la the Reason interview probably has more to do with Rand and Jack Hunter's influence on him. Hunter co-wrote his latest book and is a fellow South Carolinian. As for Mitt, its a mystery to me why he likes him so much. He endorsed him in 2008 as well.
