RP wins 75% of Maine and 50% of Colorado state delegates

That’s what we’ve called Paul’s “secret ninja strategy” to do better than the media thinks in caucus results. His campaign has now released some claims as to how this has worked so far. In the Minnesota caucuses, for instance, Paul won 27 percent of the presidential preference vote, but 75 percent of the delegates chosen to attend the state convention are Paul supporters. In the Colorado caucuses, Paul got only 12 percent of the vote, but 50 percent of the state delegates are Paul supporters.

That’s what the Paul campaign claims, anyway.

It isn't state delegates, it is delegates to the state convention. And specifically in Colorado, whether we have 50% or just UNDER that will be huge when we get to state convention, in protecting Ron's gains.

If they really have over 50% in a state they can do all sorts of fun things. Like no confidence votes, electing a new chair, unbinding delegates, removing super delegates.

That sounds great, but it worries me that somehow they know these exact numbers. So they know specifically which people are Ron Paul supporters, is that going to be a problem for us at the state conventions? Hopefully my concerns are unfounded.

The Paul campaign is tracking delegates at the precinct level.

I assume that's why we are trying to get a majority, or close to it keeping in mind that the other 60% if we had 40% would be split between three people. If we have enough votes to "overpower" them, we should come out with the majority any time we start with the majority...

If we got 50% in Colorado... holy cow. I was just hoping we got 30%. A majority will be HUGE. Which makes me wonder how we did in Nevada. If we have a majority there... that means we have won 5 of the first 8 states.

I think that takes a supermajority.

However, the point is, I really don't think Doug should have been saying that because there are still too many steps in the process to the end. Ron is in good position, no question.

I think it's good he's saying that. It gives me renewed optimism and enthusiasm. I know it does the same for many others. That's what we need. The grassroots needs to know that we're doing well. So I thank Mr. Wead and the campaign for sharing their information to help keep us fighting in the trenches.

The downside is negligible compared to the benefit. There's really nothing the other campaigns can do about this. They can't copy the strategy effectively. And the way the process works is not exactly secret even in the absence of RP Campaign press releases, for those who will do some minimal research.
