Déjà vu all over again ... ?

Déjà vu

Laurence M. Vance (05 November 2014)

After Bill Clinton had been in office for two years, the Republicans gained control of both the House and the Senate. This was the revolution that wasn’t. Then they spent the next six years making excuses for their actions while complaining that they needed a Republican president so they could really do something. Then they got one: George W. Bush in 2000. And we know what happened then. The Republicans went on a spending spree, passed their own version of health care reform, and started two wars. Now that Republicans have gained control of the Senate and retained control of the House, all we will hear for the next two years is excuses for their actions while they complain that they need a Republican president so they can really do something. God help us if Republicans hold on to the Congress and we get another Republican president in 2016.

We are in a far worse place economically than 2000. I think that may be the only saving grace with this Republican takeover.

Yep. Just last year when the Government was all shut down and people had the bejesus scared out of them that they wouldn't get thier goodies delivered on time everyone was saying the GOP was dead dead dead.

Now here it is exactly one year later and the exact opposite. Round and Round it goes up down all around and the beat of the two party oligarchy goes onl.

Not buying it.....

I don't think it matters who is elected, the out of control spending and waring is going to continue until the wheels fall off.

The only possible difference between parties is how they spend money they don't have and which wars they engage in....

I'm just hoping that the Republicans that woke up, as in they're relatively more awake than they were before, don't fall back asleep now that "their guys" control both houses. Well, now we will get to see whether they ever actually "woke up" or were merely just reacting because the "other guys" were in control. If they still continue to be pissed, then GOOD! But if not, well then damn.

Yep. Obama kept the war machine primed. Now the repubs will refuel it.
Obamacare, the corporatism nightmare miscalled socialism, will not be repealed, but the republicans will give it a "free market" make over-- adding more goodies for the insurance lobby.
Having trouble finding a job, wait 'til were we get a "free market" solution to global trade (outsourcing of jobs) and a compromise is made on "immigration" (flood of cheap labor.)
Forget hearing Glenn Beck and other heroes complain about the Patriot Act from now on... In fact they'll demand more "protection." And Obama will "reluctantly" sign it.

And that's just the start.

It's a ratchet effect. One side advances statism as far as it will go, then holds until the other side gets in and takes it further. My prayers are with Shem, Paul, Massie and the few others.

For similar reasons, I think a "hated" Bush presidency in 2008-2016 would have done far less damage to America than Obama did.. on top of damage done by Bush Presidency of 2000-08. Neocons bait n switch was more dangerous swcbaggery.

I think the MSM is massively relieved about the election coming around at this time, as it overtook all the coverage of the US's incompetent management of suspected Ebola subjects, which was making the government look bad. Now that the momentum is off that story and the election is over, they can forge ahead pushing the war against ISIS, bombing Iran, and other Empire projects.

Let me guess GW Bush was a Beacon of Hope.

I don't see any indication at all that he or anyone else here is denying that the Dubya Administration is exactly why we are in a far worse place fiscally than fourteen years ago.

Basically, most of the plundering has been completed. There isn't much left to steal after Bush and Obama have completed their locust run. What are they going to do? Lower interest rates? Have the Fed buy more treasury bonds as foreign capital departs? Go beyond 1 trillion dollar deficits? That ship has sailed.

That is EXACTLY what the talking heads are gleefully chattering about today.

More hard line against Russia, bombing Iran and "stamping out" ISIS.

Moar war plz.

Cutting back the Surveillance State...not a peep.

This morning, one '2016 candidate script' that was repeated on every single US corporate media outlet, BBC America, Democracy Now, NEWS Max, and Al Jazeera:

JEB BUSH & HILLARY CLINTON
