As many of you guys already know, DEFCAD received a letter from the government to removed those files from their site.

What i'm sadden by this is that he made a promise to everyone that he will never remove any files for any reason and when the shit hit the fan for him. He chickened out. I mean at least he could have linked his website to torrent trackers like this " http://thepiratebay.sx/torrent/8443467/DefDist_Defcad_Liberator_Printable_Gun " so he can legally claim its off its server.

I'm a little sadden by what they did, i figured they wanted this battle in the courts of freedom of speech because in essence he is just publishing 1s and 0s.

I understand you can find it anywhere. However the whole point of their project was to stick it to the government. So i was hoping they would refuse their request and head to court. Saying they have the right to publish the file under freedom of speech.

then when push comes to shove it turns out his just a chicken shit. Just a little mad, i donated 25 dollars hoping his case will become a court case of freedom of speech.

It still may. I don't believe we have heard the last from DEFCAD.

Technically, there were no take downs. The files were not hosted on his server, but rather Mega in New Zealand. The only thing he ever did was to remove the link from the product page. He currently doesn't link to other sites that host the files, but he made good on his promise. He designed the firearm, transfered that design into CAD files and put them up on the internet where they will remain, most likely, as long as there is an internet.
