Deceiving Images: The Science of Manipulation

Let's set the old frame again.

What is reason?!

To common belief it is:
conscious, universal, logical, literal, unemotional, disembodied, and interest-based

So you'd think that you just need to tell the people the facts in clear language and they'd reason to the right conclusion? Right?

Wrong. Want to know why? Watch:Deceiving Images: The Science of Manipulation

I'm sorry your bumping it to. Knock it off. Too many negative threads today not on Ron Paul.

Just watched the whole thing....

Anyone who has studied something of linguistics and culture knows about the concept of frames in language.

This video sums it up nicely, and how it relates directly to politics.

I think every RP supporter should see this -- including the campaign.

Abolish the Federal Reserve
--> stop the government from stealing your savings
--> eliminate the hidden tax of inflation
These are good! Would recommend slight changes:
--> stop the government from stealing our earnings/wages/income. (Not everyone earns enough to have savings.)
--> stop the rising cost of living (People seem to understand the term 'cost of living' better than they do inflation.)

I wonder what it would cost to get that guy on the right from Frank to work for our campaign?

If he took Ron's platform and changed a few words I'd seriously believe we have a shot at this.

Great video, although I think frank was out of place on that stage. He was only partially relevant. He made a few good points on communication, but he rambled on about nonsense for the rest of the time and tried to be a comedian.

We've come about as far as we can come with plain logic and reason. If we are going to win, we need to appeal to the emotions of the general masses, especially the neocons.

The campaign need to run emotional ads on an epic scale. These ads need to show strong imagery of military strength, and evoke national pride, playing on the things that appeal to the neocon. At the same time they need to invoke OUR frames that include things that the neocon has a negative opinion about:

-nation building
-occupation
-tying the troops hands behind their backs
-failing to get the real terrorists
-lack of planning
-strategy blunder

This is great information. I've always thought that the Ron Paul "has never voted for...." bullet points were negative, and as such I'm prone to avoid reading them. I'd rather see what he's for.

Someone recently posted a thread asking why more women aren't for Ron Paul and I think one of the reasons is the Ron Paul Red Pill. A little more warmth and charm and re-phrasing his platforms to exude a positive feeling in himself and his audience, would go a long way to reaching those who aren't drawn to the negative aspects of issues.
