DEACE: Rand Paul: We’re all racists now

So now AuH20 is bashing on Rand? What next? Will LibertyEagle jump in too and announce she's turned on Rand and decided he's a horrible person? And will cajuncocoa then jump in and defend Rand from all the criticism?

Never understood the xenophobes in this movement.
It will require a big government to control a huge border, along with constitution-free zones, drones, etc.
People who are so xenophobic they want the government to keep out brown people should not be in a movement that presses for small government.
They really desire big government and thus should not support Rand.

Everything Deace said in this article is going to be repeated by Rand's opponents like Cruz and Santorum in the GOP debates. It's going to be brutal. So many unnecessary self inflicted wounds.

I'm perfectly willing to let Cruz, Santorum, you, and anyone else who want to split conservatives and leave conservatives unable to win run around quoting Deace and thus showing that they're either too petty to advance the cause or secret totalitarian progs. Suits me fine.

Voter id laws will not even come up in the presidential debates. it has nothing to do with presidential politics

So, let me get this straight. Steve Deace somewhat agrees with one of the many things Rand Paul said, and the Washington Times takes the opportunity to do their Lamestream Mediaganda Required Weekly Divide and Conquer Piece, and you so swallow it hook, line and sinker that you wind up saying that doing anything that would put a GOP candidate in any danger whatsoever of winning swing voters and the general election is tantamount to...

This should be Rand's logo going forward since he simply wants to blend in with the Borg.

But this is neither 'trollish behavior' nor 'getting suckered in by a con artist'? Really?

Totalitarianism has long been a 'bipartisan effort'. If we can't make liberty a 'bipartisan effort' we won't get it, and probably won't deserve it.

We can make liberty a bipartisan effort. In spite of the Washington Times, Steve Deace and you combined.

Oh, and Beck hasn't yet declared the end of Stroking Season and the beginning of Stabbing Season, so those of you among the Part Time Trollish Brigade who are jumping the gun are doing it on your own accord...

It could come up during debates. So what? Let Rand take it as an education opportunity. If it comes up, I hope he doesn't waver.

Just a little thought, but how can Rand change things if he does and says everything exactly the same as every other GOP candidate in recent history (other than his Dad) has said?

Hooray for Rand, let's change this paradigm!

I've got a better idea. Let's leave Rand Paul be, lock some 'OMG he said something that isn't PC!!!' concern trolls and some 'OMG he said something that doesn't kiss the asses of deer hunting, pickup driving, red meat eating rednecks!!!' concern trolls in a room with one of those African merry-go-round generators...

...and play them all Rand Paul quotes all day. Because cheap, clean, green energy is a good thing, right?

Just please don't put a computer in that room...

The day I wake to find that both brands of concern trolls are shilling equally shrilly about something Rand said is the day I know he has the election in the bag.

I'm amused at this thread because considering what the majority of this country voted for the last two elections, yeah--poor Rand--he's really going to have to decide what his priorities truly are with regard to where he's going to stand in order to win. He's definitely got an uphill battle.

My take on Rand's statement is that while he agrees that there needs to be some way of verifying voters, the voter id debate is not a top priority, and it is divisive at the same time.

Look...if liberty minded republicans want to have any influence on this country, we need to win elections. We are getting killed in the major urban areas (DC., San Fran, Chicago, etc.), why? One reason is because we get 1-3% percent of the African American vote. Why should African Americans vote for the GOP if the GOP pushes policies which negatively impact their ability to vote? They won't, and we'll keep losing. Rand is trying to reverse this.

Also, its worth pointing out that there are ways to ensure the integrity of elections without voters having IDs.
