At 12:41 PM today I delivered my official "Letter of Intent" to the Onondaga County GOP Chairman.

This is the first major public step in my 2010 Congressional Campaign.

A story will be in the Syracuse Post-Standard Newspaper tomorrow morning.

A Democrat is currently, but he only won by 14 points in a heavy Democrat year. It is likely that a Republican could come in, and if he campaigned hard enough and had the funds, could oust the Democrat. The current guy in office is the first Democrat to serve the 25th district since 1971.

Looks like the Green Party has a decent showing in that district (3.3%). Splintering the Liberal vote can only help you.

We can't count on that next time, though. It is looking like this is a 56/44 district. It is not a safe district by any means, however, the incumbent obviously has his incumbency advantage.

As far as his voting record goes:

Voted YES on Stimulus Package.
Voted YES on Cap-and-Trade.
Voted NO on the Stupak Amendment to disallow federal funding for abortions. Translation: He is Pro-Choice.
Voted YES on Health Care bill.

Basically, he is a far-left liberal.

As far as campaigning hard enough; David Gay was the "precinct leader" recruitment champion for RP08. He has built bridges with the teaparties/etc. In fact, he is on my short list of hardworking defenders of Liberty in our movement.

Looks like the Green Party has a decent showing in that district (3.3%). Splintering the Liberal vote can only help you.

I completely agree. If anyone could score one for Liberty in New York's 25th, it's David. Whenever he holds a money bomb, I will be one of the first to pledge.

I will even go as far as to say that if Mr. Gay plays his cards right, this will be an easier district to win than Kokesh's. This is easily one of the top 4 races to watch in 2010. New York's 25th is not a socialist district by any means, meaning that the current Rep. (a socialist) cannot represent the district effectively. Any word on a potential primary opponent?

Agreed, but Kokesh's ain't as bad as the numbers suggest.

Will be curious to see if the RNC tries any shenanigans. Hopefully they will have learned a bit from the 23rd...

His aren't because of his fund raising numbers. Over $100,000 raised several months before the primary season even begins is notable for anyone.

I'm thinking they'll be more focused on trying to win that seat back. We can hope.
