ONly saw 34 minutes, but in that time they neglected to address the real reason Israel does such things: the maintenance of cohesion. So long as a group is under attack, they cleave to one another. Otherwise, the tend to drift apart. Keeping the world on hand as its mortal enemy, Israel maintains strong bonds of identity and so on. Noen of this is chance and none of it is mystery.

Were it to turn out that Israel in some way taunted the arabs into the recent attack, it would not surprise me at all. Not saying it happened that way, but neither can I dismiss the possibility. It is precisely what FDR did to get Japan to attack Pearl Harbor. He poked, prodded, and insinuated threats that Japan would not tolerate.

That strategy is ancient and it works like a charm largely because the underlying perfidy is almost impossible to prove.

Humans.

Seems to me that in our age of sophisticated psyops, that if someone wanted them (Hamas) to engage in the hostage taking attack, all options would be used simultaneously. "Taunting", promoting supposed upsides and benefits, downplaying potential consequences, pointing out US/Biden Admin propensity to pay off kidnappers, etc...

One can but wonder what machinery is embedded in the enemy camps to facilitate such outcomes. My money says they are legion.

In this inaugural episode of Just Asking Questions, podcaster Dave Smith joins the show to tackle a fundamental question: "What is a libertarian?"

Smith spearheaded the Mises Caucus takeover of the Libertarian Party (L.P.), telling Reason's Nick Gillespie at the party convention in 2022 that the new L.P. needs "a game changer," someone capable of "re-sparking the Ron Paul Revolution" in the lead-up to the 2024 election.

In this episode, Smith discusses what has transpired in the Libertarian Party since the convention, his past and present disagreements with Reason-style libertarians, whether politicians are incompetent, evil, or both, and his greatest libertarian "white pill" for the future.

Watch the full conversation on Reason's YouTube channel or on the Just Asking Questions podcast feed on Apple, Spotify, or your preferred podcatcher.
