Daily Kos Diaries: Breitbart Hates Charity (And Rand Paul)

Trump is "leading the charge against the establishment"! Hahaha

Go to the websites of the NRO and the Washington Post. Be enlightened my young padawan.

Trump mixes liberal nostrums and isolationist impulses. He supports affirmative action, is indifferent to the fate of Ukraine and says he won’t void the Iran deal. (“I’m really good at looking at a contract and finding things within a contract that even if they’re bad. I would police that contract so tough that they don’t have a chance. As bad as the contract is, I will be so tough on that contract.”) He is against NAFTA and lukewarm on NATO. But it is immigration that defines him and has gotten him the lion’s share of attention. His anti-free-market fervor, fondness for police-state actions and disregard for the humanity of millions remind us how a-factual and noxious — not to mention, unconservative — the anti-immigration movement is.

Let the cognitive dissonance begin!

It goes far beyond us. Count Lew Rockwell, Alex Jones and many others. The cat has been let out of the bag for awhile. Only the most ardent Rand Paul fans can't see what happened as the train is halfway down the track. And it's not even about courting Donald Trump as a fellow traveler because he's not. This is a call to arms. He's leading the frenzied charge against the establishment right. It's payback time against the NROs and Washington Posts of the world that had banished our kind.

Once again I am forced to conclude that supporting Donald Trump makes you completely irrational, and triggers delusional disconnected from reality disorder.

They support what Trump is doing. Absolutely.

I'm not sure they even have treatment for this extraordinary level of disconnection from reality. I think most who have retreated this far into a meticulously constructed fantasy world just get institutionalized until it stops or they die.

Ha ha, because the NeoCon's attack Trump's good friend Hillary, she must be some great emblem of Paleo-Conservatism as well?

It's interesting. Trump seems to be the Establishment doing a back burn to guard against the wildfire. A Controlled Burn. But I'm not so sure that they can keep it under control. And I'm not so sure they're so sure they can keep it under control.

After the debate, they started to give Rand Paul publicity for the dust-up, then thought better of it, and turned it into a feud with Fox. Then they hastily thought better of that. They're going over the top with this circus. We can make headway against them by laughing about this game they're playing.

Just laugh about Trump before anyone has a chance to tell you they like him. Don't ask, just laugh. I did that today when I took a friend to the doctor. Someone mentioned being tired of the news lying to him, and I laughed about the 'anti-Establishment Republican' who had the Clintons at his wedding. I said you can tell who tells the truth because nobody points a microphone at them.

These soap operas that Rush Limbaugh is writing about Trump and the GOP are hilarious. We should dramatize them and set them to telenovella music.

Chicken-egg, egg-chicken ...

This. But what else is new? Republicans love to fool themselves into believing that the whole country will love whoever throws them red meat as much as they do. And Fox--especially the Fox Radio Dittohead Echo Chamber--just keeps telling them it's true. Two horrible losses to that loser Obama notwithstanding.

Ron Paul's top guy in Iowa said lots of Ron's supporters in 2012 are giving Trump a look after he said the Iraq war was a disaster in the debate

Yup. He did say that and he is a complete embarrassment. I see Drew Ivers worked for Pat Robertson, Pat Buchanan and now he is praising Donald Trump and not supporting Rand. I don't care if he worked for Ron Paul. A guy with that kind of record was never a liberty guy.

The minute the peasants grab pitchforks Trump will tuck tail and run away, probably to the French Riviera.

There has always been a segment of Ron Paul supporters that were merely contrarian. As opposed to libertarian, or even libertarian-leaning. They latched on to Ron Paul, not out of any sense of deep moral or logical conviction, but merely because he was giving a finger to the establishment.

This segment is fickle. They may go to Bernie Sanders. They may go to Donald Trump. It doesn't really matter. For these people, they just like whichever candidate that has the loudest voice that sounds like it is in opposition.

I'm afraid these types of people may have inflated Ron Paul's base of support in '08 and '12. Heck, they even liked Rand when he was filibustering. They have no underlying principles about the need for liberty. It doesn't matter what policy positions Rand holds, if they see him working within the current system, he has committed an egregious and unforgivable crime in their eyes. :(

They never understood the basic foundation of liberty.

Ha ha, you think Lew and AJ actively support Trump?

If you read Lew Rockwell's blog, you'll find him posting things similar to many of the people you whine about here.

Regarding Alex, this whole video is about Trump. At one point he says that Trump going after Clinton gives cover to other people to go after Clinton as well. I take it as a positive comment.

I'm not a real fan of Lew, but I didn't think he votes. I also thought that he had standards, and if anything they are too high. Guess maybe not.

The people who are so bitter now are those who have an inability to see the talents and positive things in people who aren't their candidate. Those of us who do have that ability are enjoying this election immensely. One example of someone similar is Lew Rockwell, who disagrees with Trump on most things, but can nevertheless see the positives and enjoy the show.
