From what I understand, it does not allow you to shop across state lines. Having coverage will be mandated, and you will be fined if you don't have it. I think that many people who don't have insurance right now think Obama is going to mail them a free health insurance card, and they have a huge wake-up call coming.

Stupak just said he's a Yes vote. Sounds like it will pass.

Oh, what a surprise. Sheila Jackson Lee mentioned people using the N word in her first sentence, drawing a link between the people who are against the Bill being racist.

I can only imagine how much cheaper health insurance would become if it was treated like Geico or Progressive commercials and was as available as car insurance, home insurance, etc. No change in competition. I'd imagine the insurance companies love this bill.

Hopefully a republican version will be considered after 2010 if we win the seats back.

This bill is republican. It's modeled after RomneyCare in Massachusetts.

15 minute vote was held up 10 minutes late, and there was a parlimentary inquiry about it. Sounds like they are trying to buy time for some reason, perhaps to get more Democrats time to get there for the votes needed.
