So my liberal sister sent me a text saying that social security is in danger of collapse because of the cuts Elon Musk is making. She said you're supposed to log in to the ss website and make a printout of your contributions. It came from a cnn article. The article said that Musk falsely claimed that ss is a ponzi scheme and is planning on raiding the fund for his own benefit. I'm so depressed she fell for this fear mongering bs.

First of all Musk is only cutting 12% of the ssa administration. Second, cuts to government spending increase the chances of saving ss not collapsing it. Third Musk is 100% right that ss is a ponzi scheme. It's not even debatable. All of the ss contributions have been spent, the only thing in the trust fund are us treasuries which are not an asset to the us government (obviously).

The ss trust fund thing is a really good litmus test to know if someone has a clue or is full of it, you know what I mean? It's not based on any facts that are in dispute, it's all out in the open. The fact is that the government spent the ss surplus and holds treasuries in its trust fund. No one is disputing this. Yet 99% of the articles you read or fact checkers or whatever will tell you that the trust fund is solvent up until 2035 or whatever.

Yeah, that’s the way to handle the 2 million or so illegal border crossings each year over the past three years.”
