My bad. We have an embargo on Cuba. And who cares what they are? You do know socialism is less extreme than Communism. After Canada who's our biggest trading partner on who's mercy the dollar stands? That's right the Grand Poobah of all Commies. And you want to know what socialist countries we trade with? There is a whole bunch of them.

Whatever, the Cubans wanted to do in their owncountry shouldn't be our burden. We fought and lost a brutal idiotic nonsensical war with communist Vietnam, arguably we have much more bad blood with them, yet today we can travel to that country and are are welcomed warmly by the local people.

The latin American corollary to the Monroe doctrine was both unnecessary and evil. But it's continuation today is even more irrational, counter productive and obsolete.

Cuba has a lot to offer the US besides excellent vacation spots and Cohibas.

You make a good point. It's possible that since the USA is doing the embargo that's why you are starting to see them fall apart socialism wise. If things were good and we kept feeding the socialists with goods and bucks then they wouldn't be giving their people more freedom.

So they prove again that socialism doesn't work if you are in your own little world without any "capitalists" to help out.

If there was ever a time to end the embargo it is now. Sadly, those in office who could change the policies are either Republicans who think we're still fighting the Cold War and Democrats who are afraid that the changes occuring in Cuba will disprove that socialism can ever work.

So, those trade restrictions aren't going anywhere for a while.
