CRUZ GETS BRONX CHEER

There are more than 1.4 million people in the Bronx — but Ted Cruz couldn’t even muster 100 at a campaign event in Parkchester with state Sen. Ruben Diaz Sr., a conservative Christian minister.

Cruz visited the Sabrosura Chinese-Dominican restaurant, where Diaz said the presidential candidate could “listen to the social, economic and spiritual needs of our community” while dining with other clergymen on the eatery’s famed fried rice and plantains.

Aside from about 70 ministers affiliated with Diaz, only a dozen voters turned up — and two of them were tossed out after screaming protests about the Texas senator’s hardline stance on immigration.

Cruz, meanwhile, doubled down on his assault on “New York values,” though he re-branded his message to make it easier for conservative New Yorkers to swallow by calling them “liberal Democratic values” and linking them to Donald Trump.
Before the event with the conservative state senator, his son, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., slammed Cruz as a hypocrite at a press conference arranged by the Hillary Clinton campaign.

“Ted Cruz is a hypocrite. He not only offended New Yorkers, he offended Bronxites, and now he’s here today in New York and in the Bronx looking for money and votes,” Diaz said. “We in the Bronx know how offensive he’s been. We know the truth about our borough.”

Ted Cruz visit to Bronx high school canceled after students threaten a walkout: ‘His views are against ours’
"We told her if he came here, we would schedule a walkout," said Destiny Domeneck, 16. "Most of us are immigrants or come from immigrant backgrounds. Ted Cruz goes against everything our school stands for."

One thing I like about New York, they don't have problems calling a crum a crum.

Looks like Cruz is a regional candidate.

Oh yes, I was just in Manhattan last week for a concert and it was pretty clear that people in the city don't take crap from opportunistic douches who pray for their fellow man on Sunday and on him the other 6 days of the week. All you need to do is look at a map of Cruz's primary victories by county, Cruz is a 100% mid-western phenomenon, and his theology fits right in with them. I won't be surprised if he gets completely crushed on the west coast and barely wins any counties.

People Magazine: Ted Cruz Bombs in the Bronx
http://www.people.com/article/ted-cruz-new-york-values-campaigns-nyc

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio weighed in on Thursday in an interview with CNN. "I think Ted Cruz is out of touch with New York state and New York City," he said. "You can't insult the people of New York, who fought their way after the tragedy of 9/11 back to strength, and expect people to ignore it … Ted Cruz insulted the people of New York when it was politically convenient, earlier in the primary season … Well, guess what? The New York primary is suddenly a lot more important than Ted Cruz might have imagined and now he'll pay the price for it."
..
Nevertheless, the senator didn't back down from his past criticism of the state. "The people of New York know exactly what those values are," [Cruz] said Wednesday. "They're the values of liberal Democratic politicians, like Andrew Cuomo, like Anthony Weiner, Eliot Spitzer, like Charlie Rangel, all of whom Trump has supported … If you want to know what liberal democratic values are, follow Trump's checkbook." But Cruz's disastrous campaign stop seemed to give Trump an added edge in his home city, with even the Democratic mayor siding with the billionaire businessman.
..
At a rally on Long Island Wednesday, Trump asked supporters of Cruz, "Do you remember during the debate when he started lecturing me on 'New York values,' like we're no good? I started talking to him about the World Trade Center … the incredible bravery of everybody ... We all know people that died. And I've got this guy standing over there … talking about New York values with scorn, distaste, with hatred, with hatred. So folks, I think you can forget about him."

New Yorkers seemed happy to oblige, and The Daily News left Cruz with some parting advice for how to leave the Bronx: "Take the FU train, Ted!" read the paper's Thursday headline.

Ted Cruz seems dense as a politician.

When Cruz slammed New York values, he must have thought he would have this thing wrapped by the time NY primaries came around, you always knew that comment was going to bite him in the butt, once New York actually came to vote. He will lose New York state huge, John K. has a better chance than Ted here.
