I wish there were a single, unofficial campaign fund for things like this and the blimp and the USA today ads, etc. Something run by grassroots supporters. I would donate to that instead of the official campaign. I just don't see where any of the money is going, every volunteer group is dipping into their own pockets to fund their efforts and you practically have to beg the campaign for weeks/months to get even the most modest spending approved for anything. As far as I know, they're only spending on things like commercials that nobody I know even watches anymore. Have they heard of DVRs??
Hell, even getting (the overpriced) campaign materials takes at least a week and a half, and we don't have time for such delays. I love everything Ron Paul stands for, but I continue to be very unimpressed by how his staff is running things. I've donated today and I'll donate again on the 16th, but aside from the "bomb"/feel good factor, I largely consider it money wasted. If all the supporters from my meetup group had pooled their money together, instead of donating, I have little doubt that we'd be able to get more people donating to him than would have if we continue to leave all spending decisions to the official campaign.
Then again, I've heard that weird election laws are largely responsible for much of this mess. Yet again, another government program for Ron to rollback.
