Coulter on Paul: Odd mix

From what I've seen, that's the position of a lot of Republicans. They like him on the domestic stuff, they hate him and thinks he's insane on foreign policy.

Yeah that's the weirdest thing. My dad probably agrees with Ron Paul more than any of the other candidates, but he won't support Paul because of what he said about 9-11. He supports NATO as well and believes in staying in Iraq, though he was against the war before it happened. However, I think he may have wavered a little on Iraq.

I think part of it may be the whole "he'll never win" thing too. Every time I get him cornered on an issue he goes back to saying Ron Paul won't win or just repeating what he first said. He does this on 9-11 when I try to explain how our foreign policy not only made al-Qaeda powerful it also pretty much made al-Qaeda period.

Foreign policy is the one thing it seems Republicans have a problem with. On everything else he's the best for them.

I'm going to get hell for saying this, but I think Ann Coulter may be warming up to RP somewhat. There was a video of her saying that she doesn't like nation building in afghanistan and iraq and doesn't think we should give them any more money, like what RP says. Now she is coming out and endorsing RP's entire domestic policy agenda

How can the judge host a show with this neocon apologist? You know Brian has it out for RP when he's able to get Ann Coulter to defend him.

Randomly interesting... check this out. She basically likes him for anythign domestic, but hates his ideas on foreign policy. Discussion is basically the 1st half of the video then trails off into lala land.

This is interesting, if you read his book the foward covers this topic.

Why anyone would think a humble policy of government is best at home but a massive all encompassing policy aboard is best is counter intuitive and simply flawed logic.

Why are people hating on Coulter so much here? Look, shes obscene and absurd with most of her writing, but she was defending Ron here from Brian. BRIAN is the true person who came out looking like a shill in this interview. Coulter is a brainwashed neocon, but she appears to actually not be completely obtuse - here identifcation of Huckabee as "not one of us" and a domestic liberal is right on, and shes even sticking up for paul - its means she truly does believe what she talks about with domestic policy, and is not a full blown establishment shill as i had initially thought.

I'm also confused on this.

How can anyone embrace RP's domestic policy ideals, yet want to toss them to the curb in favor of our interventionist foreign policies? Either you're with the program or you're not.

Seems like they're throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

If we want to challenge their view that Islamofascism is the biggest threat... I think we need to show that the government has been using fear tactics and promoting hysteria for the 'Islamofacsist' threat, for their own purposes. Personally I think they manipulate people, through fear. But I'm sure not everyone will agree.

Anyway, it's good that at least Ann Coulter gave him credit for everything else, even if she bashed him on foreign policy.

I bet we could use the fear of national BANKRUPTCY to sway them over to our side...

How can anyone expect Ron Paul to sit around and let the federal government pilfer money from his constituents and not get it back?

She has had too much neo-con Kool-Aid when it comes to foreign policy. Besides that, she's actually decent on domestic/fiscal conservatism. She hates Huckabee for his liberal tendencies... really hates him!

I'm starting to think she is actually the most REASONABLE of all the talking heads, at least she seems that way. I bet if she sat down with Dr. Paul he'd change her mind. :D

I still don't see how he is a hypocrite for trying to get some tax money back for his constituents. He puts the earmarks in there and then votes against the overall spending bill, meaning no earmarks for anyone! He knows these bills always pass, so he plugs his district for a piece of the overall pie. This is like saying someone against social security can change things somehow by not accepting a check. The money is still getting collected, and the FED will find something else to spend it on if your kind enough to give them your money! Seriously...WHAT IS SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND HERE?

I'm sure she's heard the arguments. She's probably suffering from chronic 911 syndrome and won't realize the reasonableness of Ron's foreign policy until it's demonstrated to work. Her audience, though, may not have had exposure to alternatives to the PNAC policy.

It's not a valid argument; those pushing the "hypocrite" angle are hoping the audience is unfamiliar with the workings of congress.

I said it from the beginning of our invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan. The pre-emptive war policy creates more terrorists than it routes out. Rather than understanding our enemy, we have a confused general public and president who know nothing Islam and the middle east. We had the entire world behind us after 9/11, but somehow now our country is way more isolated than ever before. Now we have neither support or sympathy from countries around the world, and we are left with all time high anti-americanism. China, Iran, Russia, Venezuela, Syria, North Korea, and probably others are forming crucial business, military, and other diplomatic ties to counter our influence. This will create more global warming, more tension, less tourism, less trade, less everthing good. Vote for Ron Paul and end those trends.

Not bad, she claims to be a conservative, and Ron Paul is the most conservative on spending....she disagrees with his foreign policy, which is not that different from current neo-con thinking. At least she didn't make a personal attack on him.

How can you agree with domestic policy and not with foreign? If you dismantle the welfare-warfare aparatus what exactly will we attack people with?

How will Al kada hit us again? With our own planes again? And how will that be possible with our increased security? Will they come through our open borders and hit us? Then why are our borders still open? I am screaming at the top of my lungs for someone to answer these questions. They won't because the answers do not promote the neo-con agenda.

This just shows the fundamental contradiction of the modern "conservative" mindset. They believe that government should be limited and that it does not solve domestic problems with endless money and beurocracy, however they think that same government and beurocracies takes on some magical air of effectiveness and righteousness when dealing with a foreign issue.

The principle is the same. Big government intervention enflames, perpetuates and creates problems. It doesn't solve them. This is true domestically and internationally.

Sorry, I couldn't read that. Try larger and redder font next time. :)
