Let's think about this for a moment. What has been the single most used strategy the neo-cons have been implementing to get the masses to comply with their policies on national security and foreign policy? FEAR.
Like me, I'm sure many of you have on occassion run into a brick wall trying to get Conservative family/friends to convert over to Ron Paul. They simply don't get the message. I believe, there is a genuine emotional block there, which was instilled in the majority of Americans by the media after 9-11. This FEAR is ingrained in the collective subconscious. Some, (like myself), have awakened, but others still believe that we have to have our soldiers over in Iraq (and elsewhere), to protect us from the terrorists and that we must have the Patriot Act even though we may lose some of our personal freedoms.
Ron Paul said on B. Moyers the other night, that his #1 campaign issue is changing our foreign policy and bringing our military home, because it is directly connected to the enormous debt in this country. And if we don't correct that first, we would have to withdraw all our military anyway because we will become bankrupt which would make us more vunerable.
Our foreign policy is the greatest threat to our freedom and prosperity. If the neo-cons can use fear for negative reasons, maybe we can use a little fear for positive reasons. The media is not reporting the serious trouble our economy is. The $ is falling. We borrow billions from China to fund the war. If people were aware that there's a very real possibility that we can go bankrupt, THAT would scare them more than the terrorists. As in the majority of sucessfuls ads, you explain the problem, but then you offer the solution.
If we can create ads that makes this the main focus, I think it could make people sit up and take real notice because it will really shake them up. We could still show Ron's list of what else he would do, but I feel this should be a main focus. Someone on the forums brought this up a few months back, and did a great job in explaining it in detail. It was brilliant. That's just my opinion..
