It really depends how her recovery goes. She'd more likely to try for state office. She was already being touted, and assuming she recovers, she'd probably be a strong candidate. This is a big if however. I'm not sure she'd be up for the strenuous campaigning the VP has to do. Plus she's also have to have her speaking functions largely unaffected, since she'd have to give speeches and debate.
Also, I doubt Obama would pick a congresswoman. Yes, a lot of Americans are stupid and would love the "symbolism" or whatever, but I think it would turn a lot of people off. And this would be a women who would then be the Democrats next in line, and you can bet there'd be many more experienced politicians who would not be happy that Giffords suddenly vaults ahead of them. Especially since I think she voted against Pelosi for leader. And I think if Obama puts a women on the ticket, it has to be Hillary. A lot of her diehard fans would view it as a personal insult if he chose another women over her.
