could Giffords replace Biden on the 2012 ticket?

It really depends how her recovery goes. She'd more likely to try for state office. She was already being touted, and assuming she recovers, she'd probably be a strong candidate. This is a big if however. I'm not sure she'd be up for the strenuous campaigning the VP has to do. Plus she's also have to have her speaking functions largely unaffected, since she'd have to give speeches and debate.

Also, I doubt Obama would pick a congresswoman. Yes, a lot of Americans are stupid and would love the "symbolism" or whatever, but I think it would turn a lot of people off. And this would be a women who would then be the Democrats next in line, and you can bet there'd be many more experienced politicians who would not be happy that Giffords suddenly vaults ahead of them. Especially since I think she voted against Pelosi for leader. And I think if Obama puts a women on the ticket, it has to be Hillary. A lot of her diehard fans would view it as a personal insult if he chose another women over her.

Hillary has huge negatives, Giffords comes across as a nice person (just watch Giffords, and then watch the annoying Debbie Schultz) with no negatives, if her health recovers.
plus Obama has a pack of Jewish advisors who would love a Jewish VP, then a Jewish president in 2016.

Hillary's fan were insulted by the Biden pick, and even Palin on the ticket didn't have them leave Obama.

A bullet went through her brain - Surviving that is a miracle in itself but to think she will ever be back to a 100% mental and physical capacity is not realistic imo. I hope I'm wrong though.

if the target was not simply the judge, did someone
trashtalk up in a vicious manner the poor woman
because as a "blue dog' Democrat she could have
ticket~balanced our sitting president were he to
have kept dipping in the polls? the thought of how
this could whammy sarah palin's run sorta hints that
if the 22 year old shooter is not a lone wolf assassin,
its likely someone much older than he had an agenda.
