Police officer Kyle Jones of La Porte, Texas, shut down a highway on a rainy day to help a small dog find its way home.

Unbeknown to Officer Jones, a nearby motorist took a photo of the officer's kindhearted gesture. A short time later, the photo of Officer Jones attempting to wrangle the stubborn little pooch was at the top of the popular social network Reddit.

KHOU 11 News has more details. Cujo, the dog, had escaped his home on Monday morning. One of his owners, Jeremy Zapalac, organized a search party in the neighborhood. But after an hour, it started to rain. "He hates water," Zapalac said of the rat terrier.

The dog had wandered over to a nearby highway. Fortunately, Officer Jones saw the small dog, stopped his car (and traffic), and generally went the extra mile to make sure he got home safely.

"He’s not going to make it if I don’t do something," Jones said of the tiny dog. "When I saw it and saw the size of it, I immediately hit my lights and shut all the lanes off."

Jones wasn't sure the dog would go with him, but it turned out Cujo was happy to see him. "You know how Chihuahuas are. You're not really sure if you can trust 'em or not. But he kind of looked at me and said, 'Man, I'm glad you're here.' He let me pick him right up. Stuck him in the back seat of the patrol car."

Thank you.

With all the bullshit hatred of cops on this forum, I thank you very much. I don't mean to demean or discredit real abuses of power and the constitution by police. I think they should be pointed out and word should spread. Which is why I don't get angry at the majority of AF's threads.

At the same time, we need to recognize that all cops are not evil. The one who saved the dog isn't. The one who saved my life isn't. And that many (not all) offer a real public service.

So a very Sincere Thank You,

Slutter McGee

Agreed. I really wish there were more stories like this one and less of the others. :(

saw one block an exit ramp in cincy for a family of ducks
made me analyze my extreme repugnant reaction to costumed thugs a bit...
and it was good

its good to think not ALL the people extorting you for protection money would drop you in a half heart beat for any reason, or no reason

being an adult SUCKS sometimes...

Even Hell's Angels do poker runs for charity.

Police were on high alert from Hoover Dam to Henderson on Monday, as 300 bikers from more than 20 motorcycle clubs rode through town raising money for Jerry's Kids.

Officers from Boulder City, Henderson and Metro police roamed Boulder Highway and were armed and wary along the route of a 50-mile poker run sponsored by the Las Vegas chapter of the Hells Angels. Members of the SWAT teams were stationed in the old World War II bunkers above Hoover Dam, poker run organizer James Kimsey said

I can only speak for myself,

but I think most of those type of people you're referencing would prefer a private police force and not the current government run "Justice System".

People like me hate the system, not each individual cop on a micro level.

You can speak for your own misguided ignorance. Don't generalize everyone else who sees police left and right in this country committing outrageous crimes against humanity. The overwhelming corrupt pig units heavily outweigh the isolated morally sound individuals in uniform.

or not evil all the time...

and then there are times when your sure they were but you reflect back you find them the friends you needed in the manner you needed.

Probably the worst job there is.

I once saw a cop take part of his lunch from his cooler and feed a stray cat before.. should I go into the other two dozen or so times the cops have personally violated my rights? Or the probably five or six dozen times I have personally seen cops violate someone else's rights? Or the hundreds upon hundreds of videos and stories of the cops violating different Americans' rights? I digress. Just a couple of bad apples.

As to the cop feeding the stray he patrolled the area I used to live. I've seen him a couple [dozen] times riding in circles, looking hard at the neighbors he is supposed to serve. I really think he respected the cat more than the people he interacted with. Real hard ass that guy was.. but he sure liked that cat.

In other news a friend of mine was recently let go with a warning for a brake light that was shorting out. No proof of insurance on her but they let her go with a warning. He wants her to fax in proof of insurance for today's date and they'll drop the case.

Seems to me the only good cop is the one that doesn't f*ck with you specifically at that instance.

Now that I think about it what we do to the police here with posting the worst we can find on them is the same sort of thing they have to look for in us.

The difference perhaps is that it is their job and they are getting paid for it. Can you imagine a job like that? Going out and maybe even praying up some of the things you are finding.

We really have no excuse for wasting our time tripping on them.

Ha Ha! Perhaps we've become the same thing we don't like in them.

LoL - why get angry at me?

I'm not the one abusing power, beating people up, tossing grenades at little kids or shooting people's dogs.

The following is not news:

"BREAKING: Coffee maker makes man's coffee. And his car starts!"

Thank you.
