Your brother should find out the name of this cop and phone in a snitch on him. I mean, he's a cop so he has a gun at home, right? And according to him, all guns are illegal.

Also, I bet this system is being gamed to hell. There's an awful lot of guns worth way less than $1000, and from what we've seen lately, cops will take anything and call it a "gun taken off the street", even if it's a movie prop. They don't have to make a conviction for you to get your $1000, so you could go around planting broken or fake guns worth $20 in the houses of people you don't like. Pretty damn good deal if you ask me.

Aren't us taxpayers generous?

I live in this state.. New Jersey is definitely not a gun friendly environment... I dont even think the right to bear arms is in our state constitution...

Not that one needs it to be there to have the right to defend oneself.. but to alot of law enforcement.. yeah.. its a crime

I am assuming they are only confiscating illegally owned guns and that the cop that answered the phone is just an idiot.

NJ is a grand shit hole. As far as I can tell, there is no protection of RKBA in that state's constitution.

If you live here in New Jersey (or anywhere else in the USA) DO NOT keep registered weapons. Find yourself some good weapons that were not used in the commission of a crime and don't tell a soul.

All we need to know is Katrina gun grab. They used the list of registered gun owners and went door to door and confiscated guns from law abiding citizens and left them completely vunerable to the thugs, the rapists, robbers and looters.

Also, if you live in New Jersey and someone breaks into your house and threatens you and your family and you must shoot him, then make sure you kill him. Then, go into your kitchen and find a big knife and place it in his hand before you call the cops.
