Cop saves dog

How'd I know who the OP was before I opened the thread? It was either that or azxd would've had 26 posts in the first 3 pages.

I would love to see more posts like this. And honestly, I don't mind watching xzxd troll a little, or challenge people (even quite ridiculously at times), or expect that evidence is required before a conviction. He keeps the conversation balanced a little bit, and does so in the face of overwhelming opposition. This is Ron Paul Forums, not Cop Hater Forums, and so as long as he is a Paul supporter, then he is still in the right place. This story kinda made my day, even though we know how fast video disappears when things go wrong. Honestly, I'm not sure this cop should have been using a hand held video while doing his job, even. Working with one arm has to make a cop less effective.

Every day there are hundreds of "bad cop" events that go unreported in the news. This is because it's simply not interesting. Whether it's a good cop story, or a bad cop story, if it's not interesting, it's not reported. Whether the cop is good or bad actually has very little to do with it.

It's not just just that. Most run of the mill cop abuse goes completely unreported to anyone. Not the news, and not even the cops. I've had friends who were popped with flashlights for no real reason. Did they report it? No? Anyone care of they did? No. Would it be a news story? No. And this was long ago, before police were all about "compliance" and such. They just kick people around and taze them as normal procedure now.

Did anyone else notice the cop was illegally parked in the middle of the road?

People, to include the media, often focus on the negative, even when many positive things are happening all around them.

Perhaps this is because it is easier to vilify others, and/or create a news headline ?

You can find one or two good cop stories. I can find thousands of bad cop stories.

Thus proving my point ... Some people prefer to harp on the negatives, because "it is easier to vilify others, and/or create a news headline".

No. I see plenty of stories on the local news about heroic acts but none of them ever by police officers. Usually citizens and the occasional firefighter. It has nothing to do with "harping on the negatives" or "vilifying others to create a news headline". It's simply about reporting what happened and the sad truth is that cops aren't there to help you or save your dog. They are there to arrest you when you break the law and to use force against you when you step out of line.

cop.... was illegal....

does not compute. division by 0. error, error.....

lol

Where I live (large metro area), local media is always heavily biased in favor of police. They run a lot of questionable stories too, but always give the official verdict straight from the PD public relations department. No matter what the police did, it winds up being a bunch of high fiving and back patting between police and media.

And revenue enhancement. Lets not forget that...

Heroic Officer saves local man.

A commuter was saved today through the courageous actions of a local law enforcement official.
What should have been a routine license check turned out to be a life saving action on the part of Sgt. Slaughter.
Witnesses say that as Dudley O'Rourk approached the license check Sgt. Slaughter noticed something out of the ordinary. Something largely undetectable to the untrained eye. Something that could have cost Mr. O'rourk his life.
What Sgt. Slaughter noticed was that Mr. O'Rourk's passenger side headlight had burned out and was non-operable.
"Had it not been for the officers quick action in writing me a ticket I don't know if I'd be here to tell the tale." commented Mr. O'Rourk. "He was quick with his pen and pad and got all that information down before anything life-threatening happened. He was real courteous and all. Then he let me be on my way. I'm not sure how I'm gonna pay the ticket being I've been unemployed for some time now." He added, " I'm sure glad he wrote it though. Without that ticket I might have not made it home safely."

OOPS !!
I guess I should have clarified it for you ... I'm talking about what gets spread around this forum.
Lot's of negativity about many things.

RP seems to be one of the few positive thing one can find ;)

I'm cool with exposure, but the negativity is a bit overboard.

Heck,
People can't even look at a story about a cop helping a dog, without their bias overloading their words :(

Well,
I'm positive that cops fulfill no useful function in society,
I'm positive that they have abused their power from the very beginning,
I'm positive that these abuses are better documented nowadays,
I'm positive that there is no such thing as a "good" cop,

and most of all, I'm positive about how many people are waking up to this.

I wanna thank azxd for posting this. Come on folks i mean hell i hate corrupt police officers but folks give it a break. There are good police officers out there.

I once helped a neighbor corral 4 cows and take them back to pasture. They had escaped and were eating another neighbor's garden flowers. She was threatening to shoot them and/or us if we didn't do anything about it. Even went and replaced some of her flowers on my own dime. Can I get my pay-check, retirement, health-insurance and Union benefits now?

No, that's how people are supposed to behave.

It's a myth. Like unicorns or the tooth fairy. You always hear about the "good cop" and yet you never see them.

It's you that causes the bias overload (and lots of eye-rolling), far more than the cop. I like to read your posts just to see how much you have to bend, stretch and ignore what people are saying so you can come to your own conclusion that anyone who posts a criticism (or a genuine story about cops acting badly) is a "cop-hater." Philosophically, I think they all have the potential to be the thugs that many accuse them of being, and we are on a downward trajectory when it comes to law enforcement.

I see this criticism of them as helping other folks here know what to be wary of when encountering a cop--and we have every reason to be wary. And you've never answered why you find that so incredibly offensive. Is anything other than blind faith and obedience acceptable to you?
