Cop Loses Badge Over YouTube Video That Shows Him Body-Checking Bicyclist

Unless the dog happens to be a police officer.

I don't think I'll ever understand how any animal could have the same rights as, or more, than a human.

Cops have more rights than civilians. It's just backwards as to how it should be. The penalty for killing a cop shouldn't more severe than the penalty for a cop that kills a civilian.

They give themselves guns and put themselves on pedestals. And taser you if you think that respect has to be earned, not demanded.

There's a very liberal woman around here that is an activist and is known to be very, very anti-police. One day she needed dire help and called the police, she saw someone breaking into her car. They helped her, arrested the man. Right afterwords, she thanked them and was so grateful and was telling the officers how great they were.

The next day, what does she do? Goes back to bashing police on the evening news.

I know confidence is pretty crucial to you in doing your job, but you crossed the line into serious presumptuousness here. I really don't know how you mistook our angelatc for a liberal but this is a laughable error. I don't think you understand fine women like this one at all, officer. Outside your realm of experience. Why? Because I strongly suspect that when she finds herself in one of those rare situations she can't handle herself, she calls a friend or relative for back up.

If angelatc has two faces, I for one have never seen the other one. If you are capable of apologizing, this would be a good time to do it. It doesn't pay to lump your whole population into catagories like mean, nefarious and helpless and try to stuff everyone you deal with into one of these molds, officer. Not the way to become legendary in your job.

Why Mike would make a terrible policeman :

I would agree, if we were in a world like the [tinfoil hat wearing] "cop" suggests. Sadly, I have taken this position to give this boy a taste of his own medicine and by threatening arbitrary action, involving punishment, I seem to fit right in with his suggestions of "proper police behavior"

Quite interesting to be on the other side of the stick in this case...

This is my second post to this boy, and he has chosen to remain silent. According to his logic...

:D;)

Caught on tape: Army recruiters threaten high school students

HOUSTON — With a war in Iraq and fighting on the rise in Afghanistan, the struggle to bring in new U.S. Army recruits is heating up again.

And Irving Gonzales, 18, got caught up in it all.

As his family’s oldest male, he feels he has to do whatever it takes to help out his single mom. For him, that means working long hours at his after-school job.

“My mom was left struggling. I would give her more than half my paycheck,” Gonzales said.

That’s why the Aldine High School senior started thinking about the Army – and the tens of thousands of dollars in bonuses that can come with enlistment.

“They were offering me school, they were offering me bonuses,” he said.

So Gonzales signed up – but only to “pre-enlist” in the Delayed Entry Program. DEP allows kids to try out the military without a binding commitment.

But the 11 News Defenders have found there is a problem: Army recruiters aren’t sticking to the program and are bullying and even lying to potential recruits and their families to keep them from dropping out.

After he had a change of heart, Gonzalez became one such victim.

“I’d rather just stay here, go to college,” he said he told his recruiter.

The reaction: Gonzalez said a recruiter told him if he did drop out, they would send him to jail.

Thug NYPD Cops Beat Already Restrained Man Senseless

LUKAS I. ALPERT and MURRAY WEISS

NY Post

Thursday, July 31, 2008

The day after a video emerged of a cop knocking a cyclist to the ground, a second video alleging police brutality surfaced today in which an NYPD officer is seen whaling away at a man’s legs with a baton.

The footage - shot on July 4 on the Lower East Side - shows Officer Maurice Harrington repeatedly hitting Michael Cephus, 46, on his legs with a collapsible metal baton as he struggles with officers trying to cuff him.

Harrington - a four-year veteran working out of the 52nd Precinct in The Bronx - had his badge and gun taken away and was placed on modified duty when the tape was turned over to the department’s Internal Affairs Bureau.

The video does not show how the confrontation began. According to the criminal complaint, Harrington and fellow Officer Joel Medina said they encountered Cephus - who they thought was drunk - around 8 p.m. on Delancey Street under the Williamsburg Bridge.

We're supposed to believe that the guys who are more heavily armed than they were 20 years ago are actually a kinder, gentler police force?

Interesting point. It was some years back, but cops started noticing they were outpowered when confronting serious criminals. And a great cry went up from cops and civilians alike that the cops need more fire power. There was some discussion from people who felt our forces were adequately armed and should be able to use professionalism and training to respond to situations. But these got about 2 seconds attention. All over the land, meek sheeple in town counsels immediately decided to tax their neighbors and up-arm the cops. And that's where you started to see the nice stuff, the stuff only rich sportsmen could previously afford, coming online in the departments. And manufacturers responded with lines of gorgeous new hardware. And the whole thing just became part of the way things are because no Chief wants to give up any budget, no sheeple citizens counsel wants to be scared in their beds at night and no politician ever delivers on a promise to lower taxes.

And this was BEFORE the whole 9/11 thing. OMFG, now, every Bob Hick sheriff in Iowa is prepared for a full scale invasion.

The point is the cops didn't just ask for all this hardware. Well they did, but the citizenry also pushed it on them.

No doubt about it in my mind - cops are bullies who were too stupid to make it through college.

Uh, you are actually correct in many cases. Over-qualifying on an IQ test nullifies your chances of being a cop in many places. It's a documented, above-boards requirement. You can only be so smart if you want to be a cop.

See, somebody noticed that smart cops didn't want to be cops for long. They were forever getting bored or under-challenged or tired of the rigid command structure and so they kept resigning and getting degrees in criminal justice and pursuing law degrees. All those training dollars wasted.

So in the infinite wisdom of the state, they decided the fix is to hire dumber cops. A guy for whom steady pay and a pension is a true dream come true. Someone who needs some structure, who needs to be told what to do. Someone you can make dependent upon the system.

Of course, this isn't all places. It primarily happens in urban centers where they have serious problems with retention. And the pun, while not intended, is still possibly amusing.

Did you bother to read the article? The officer was entering the yard and the dog lunged at him in attack mode. Was the officer supposed to just sit there and let the dog tear him to shreds? You will probably reply "yes", based on your comment that "pigs" should die.

Would you do the same, just sit there and do nothing while the dog rips you to pieces?

Do you even think things through before you write them?

The letter said nothing about the dog lunging. You are flat out lying. Not surprising you would embellish the story to make your blue line brother look justified in shooting someone's dog in their own yard.

That's pretty funny, because around here it's pretty difficult to get hired as a cop if you aren't a college graduate.

In fact, the NY State Police flat out require you to have at least 60 college credit hours or they won't even look at you, says right in their requirements for application.

Most other departments not only require a degree, but one in criminal justice as well.

But nice try angelatc, keep making stories up.

I heard about that. AFAIK it's only one department that did that, disqualified people that scored too high on an IQ test. Thought that was hiliarious.

IIRC, the disqualifying IQ score was some ridiculously high amount like 160+ which is borderline genius.

That doesn't mean they are only hiring retards though.

Banning everyone we disagree with is not the way to build credibility.

It had nothing to do with disagreement. The guy was just here to make trouble. Think about it. Read his posts

He claimed to support RP, but had a very different view of the Bill of Rights.

He claimed to be a cop, while acting like the worst sort.

The guy was giving good cops a bad name with his arrogance. I stayed with a cop at our OLFD house, the guy would have been mortified to see this poser talking for him.

Bottom line is we have enough of a problem with real badcops that we don't need a loser like that giving the good ones a bad name.

If he was interested in discussion he would have responded to my posts to him. He was just interested in fanning flames.

IOW - he was a lying POS

I completely agree
