That dog was on a chain to begin with. Then it was on a catch pole. And then he simply executed it. That officer is a sociopath.

A LaGrange, Mo., man has agreed to a settlement for federal lawsuit which he filed against a LaGrange police officer who shot and killed his dog in 2010, reported Thursday's WHIG News.

The attorney for the dog's owner, Marcus Mays, said that both sides agreed to a $50,000 settlement; the settlement was agreed upon before heading to trial.

Mays' dog, an 18-month-old bulldog named "Cammie," was reported as a dog-at-large on the day of the fatal encounter; a neighbor claimed that the dog had growled at her daughter.

By the time that officers responded, Cammie had been secured to a trailer. The officers removed her from the tether and proceeded to utilize a catch pole to restrain her.

As the frightened dog struggled to get away, LaGrange police officer Doug Howell drew his gun and shot her in the shoulder. The dog dropped to the ground and was not moving, aside from her wagging tail.

Moments later, Officer Howell fired a shot into Cammie's head, killing her. Howell claimed that he shot Cammie because he feared for his life.

The entire scene was captured on a dash cam and uploaded to YouTube, where it has been viewed over one million times.

Mays' attorney, James Schottell Jr., stated:

I figured that as we got closer to trial that we would get a decent settlement,

You have the loss value of the dog. Even if he decided to breed it, it's a sizable settlement for the case. They probably doubled their offer since we started mediation.

Officer Howell is still employed by the LaGrange Police Department.

Policy was followed. Hush money paid. Cop still at large.

I can't even say what I want to say. Suffice it to say that I wouldn't be taking any hush money.

When the time comes,, remember all of these.

Steel your heart with them. :(

Comments on YT say they settled out of court for 50,000, and the cop still has his job.

MOTHERFUCKING CRIMINAL!!!!11!!!  If there ever was a person deserving of execution, it's this piggy. People in La Grange ought to have already lynched this guy. He's a very serious threat to the community.

Uncharged animal abuser: LaGrange police officer Doug Howell

LaGrange man settles federal lawsuit against police officer who killed his dog in 2010 shooting

Had any of us been so sick as to murder a dog, we would all be up on charges for animal abuse. How is it that making roosters fight is a crime but shooting a restrained dog is not?
Oh yeah, its all about who is wearing the fancy hat.
Indeed! He not only shot the restrained dog, he shot it AGAIN when it was down. WTF? I love dogs and assholes like this piggy piss me off big time.  Leave the rope and call in Vlad.

Oh, no, no, no... not the same at all.

The roosters WANT to fight.
It's what they live for. What they breathe for.

You can logically take a position that it's immoral to make sport of it, but saying cockfighting is cruelty to animals is like saying boxing is cruelty to humans.

It is not the same as what the cop did, at all.
