I am in a meetup group in Virginia. Does anyone have any ideas for convincing people to vote for Dr. Paul....We get alot of "he doesn't have a chance" responses, and with the lack of funds for media attention we were asked to be on the lookout for pointers and strategy?

Any help appreciated.

I would politely ask them why they think he has no chance. Eventually you'll collect enough "data" to formulate a strategy to convince people.

Don't be afraid to drill deeper also. If you get a response like "He's wrong on all the issues", then ask them which issue is most important to them and why they think Ron Paul is wrong.

Just keep it friendly.

Also, take a few moments and ask yourself what kind of people are most likely to vote for Ron Paul. My Meetup group is targeting middle class, especially the lower middle class. We are marking likely neighborhoods that would match that profile and will be hitting them with flyers and probably CD's with RP videos.

Peace,

Jason

If people say Ron "doesn't have a chance" it's because they don't know about him. I found that just about everybody I tell about him that does a little research likes what he has to say and are surprised. I especially like how many people who would be labeled 'liberal' identify with what he thinks. Not everyone uses internet, so having things printed for people to read would help.

I don't see him getting the Republican nomination...or a Republican getting elected at all...I wish he would consider running independent/third party...with a strong 'Write in Ron Paul' campaign...it's the beauty of our system, it can correct itself, maybe tell the people who 'don't think he has a chance', to have more faith in the system. So maybe give out copies of the Constitution and the Bill if Rights. Maybe write up something about third parties or long shots getting elected (people thought JFK didn't have a chance), would let people know that it's possible.

To counter the "he has no chance", you should explain that if you support Ron Paul's ideas, you should vote for him. Cause if you vote for one of the warmongers, then it looks like that guy and his ideas have more support in the party.

If you, and others vote for Ron Paul, he'll either win, or have a higher percent of the vote, so the party can be pushed in a more Libertarian direction. Also, it will inspire people who share his principles to run in the future, since they know there is support out there.

Imagine if warmonger #1 got 30%, warmonger #2 got 25% and Ron Paul got 15%. Candidates may start to follow in his footsteps, and future candidates know there is support for his message. Now imagine if it's like warmonger #1 35%, warmonger #2 30%, Ron Paul 5%. He lost in both examples, but the first is much stronger, and has a much better chance of pushing the party in the right direction in the future.

It's about raising awareness

Just helping with the campaign is raising awareness about important issues. Share that this is a grassroots movement that is involving young and old, alike, and people of all different backgrounds. Some people are working to get local candidates elected who share Ron Paul's values. People who have never gotten involved in political campaigns are coming out of the woodwork--partly because they want to be with like minded people. Whatever efforts we make--whether he wins or loses--we will be making headway. Yet, remember, with God all things are possible.
