Controversy Erupts As SpongeBob Refuses Unemployment Benefits

I've never actually watched SpongeBob in english, so I have no idea what Patrick sounds like.

He sounds like Dauber! Or Marshall's Dad...

The thing is though, Bikini Bottom economics are totally different from our world. Patrick is unemployed yet seems to able to spend his days doing whatever he wants. Squidward might be an employee of Mr. Krabs, but Squidward is the rich one, since he is always the one that can buy and afford the expensive things (which Spongebob and Patrick ruin).

SpongeBob is a loyal worker, while Squidward encouraged him to go on strike which they both learned was a dumb idea.

But Squidward is the rich one, constanting replace clarinets or whatever Spongebob and Patrick destroy from his house.

I thought Squilliam Fancyson was the rich one. He's Squidward's rival from high school.

Networks need to write the old cartoons. The ones where characters get hit in the head or explode. Shit like that.

I think you need to watch more Spongebob. That is an accurate description of what happens. Many of the episodes, especially the earlier ones, are quite good.

Older ones. The newer ones make the show seems like the Simpson, id est: it needed to be euthanized years ago.

It's a little embarrassing how much of this show I have watched. The 1st run, 3 seasons or so, is fantastic. The "commercial phase", the next 4 seasons, was just mindless commercialization. There were a few gems, here and there, but mostly rubbish. The latest season or two has gotten better.

I have always considered Spongebob, the show, not the character, to have a very neutral stance politically. Some episodes will go one way or the either, but there's certainly no overarching slant.

Yes, I think most of the episodes made during the first 5 years are well developed. The movie was really good too.

Right on. These days it's all supposed to be educational, politically correct crap.

Bugs Bunny beats Dora the Explorer any day of the week.

No, I don't want my kid to learn a few phrases in Spanish, I want them to model their behavior after a rabbit that rolls his own cigarettes.

(that's not sarcasm, I'm about 90% serious)
