So let me get this straight. We have groups of A-list celebrities forming up and speaking out in volume for Collectivist Gay Rights yet these libertarian celebrities are nearly silent in their support of the wellbeing of our country?
Understand, Hollwood is extraordinarily liberal. The directors, actors/actresses/producers... the whole network is such that if you are an outspoken conservative, libertarian - basically not an outspoken liberal - they will make it as difficult as possible for you to get work. To that, if you're not an activist-type - I can understand why you're quiet on these issues.
What a load of crap.
This list may look good on paper, but if these celebrities (with so much influence) aren't willing to at least start speaking out individually, it means nothing.
The majority of them must be "closet libertarians".
Maybe, but they are libertarians. It would be nice to get them to be more outspoken - but that isn't the point of this list. This list is more for pointing out libertarians in popular culture for the point of bringing more attention to libertarianism for the masses, as per my OP.
Some of them, though - are outspoken. Some, VERY outspoken.
Some examples of such from the list are: Penn Jillette (proclaimed on the Glenn Beck show a few times and on the show BULLSHIT that he's an *anarchocapitalist*), Teller (also was proclaimed by Penn that Teller is an Objectivist), Vince Vaughn (had Ron Paul come to his showing of the movie 'Couples Retreat' and has spoken against the Fed - has also worn libertarian themed shirts in his movies), Drew Carey, Glenn Jacobs is an ardent activist, radio host, and runs his Citizen Kane libertarian ancap blog), Matthew Bellamy (ever listen to some of his music?), Aaron Lewis (*quite* outspoken on these issues when on the radio and politics comes up - I've heard him), Joe Rogan (outspoken Ron Paul supporter, always talks about libertarianism and anti-govt rhetoric on his radio show and in comedy), John Fitch is an outspoken Ron Paul supporter, Kennedy is an outspoken libertarian, Kurt Loder is a writer on reason magazine, Peter Thiel is a major investor in the seasteading institute, John Mackey is a major Ayn Rand fan and has even had liberals around the country boycott Whole Foods (unsuccessfully) due to his outspoken anti-universal healthcare and anti-Obama stance, Patrick Byrne on public television has stated his support for Ron Paul and that he's the only one he knows what's up, Neil Pert and Geddy lee (ever listen to the songs 'Tom Sawyer' and 'The Trees'?), Mobb Deep is pretty outspoken against Obama and supporter of liberty, Wesley Snipes is a tax protestor and *even went to fucking jail* over it...
That's a pretty significant portion of that liust... and I didn't even bother mentioning Ron Paul, Judge Nap, Rand Paul, Ayn Rand, John Stossel, Milton Friedman, et al for obvious reasons...
