UPDATE: There is an old 2007 thread on this, but there are too many people on it no one has ever heard of, and many of them are in major dispute).

Hey everyone! I've noticed recently that while there's rare and sporadic talk of libertarian celebrities, there's not really a comprehensive list of them.

Well - we're gonna do it. Right now. We're gonna make the best, most exhaustive & comprehensive list of libertarians we can possibly come up with.

I really think it's important for us to show more of the masses libertarians that they know and love - that it isn't as fringe as they think and that there some very prominent, reasonable, smart, funny people are libertarian. This will make them more open to the ideas of liberty.

I will start! As time goes on, and we add people (also bands, etc) throughout the thread - we are going to double check sources that lend significant evidence that these people are or are at least very probably, libertarian. They vary in degree of libertarianism (some are ancaps, some are minarchists, etc). These should be people that almost everyone knows, or groups almost everyone knows who the people are associated with.

If a name was added in error, please dispute it and we will go over the alleged evidence. And I will add them to this OP (along with the name of the person who first noted them as libertarian in the thread).

Penn Jillette & Teller (Magicians, comedians and hosts of the show 'BULLSHIT')

Angelina Jolie - wasn't she and her hubby a big John Edwards fans in the last election?

I see you mentioned him already, but i just want to point out some comments that this site says he made.

Clint Eastwood

"Abuse of power isn't limited to bad guys in other nations. It happens in our own country if we're not vigilant. Those in power get jaded, deluded, and seduced by power itself." -Parade magazine (January 12, 1997)

when he was asked: "How would you characterize yourself politically?" Eastwood replied:
"Libertarian... Everyone leaves everyone else alone. -March 1997 Playboyinterview"

when asked about same-sex marriages. Eastwood replied: "From a libertarian point of view, you would say,
'Yeah? So what?' You have to believe in total equality. People should be able to be what they want to be and do what they want -- as long as they're not harming people." -2004 USA Today

"I like the libertarian view, which is to leave everyone alone." -2004 USA Today

AK definitively counts... he's gets arrested for being free a few more time and he'll be a household name lol. AVTM rules btw :)

Oh and if you're gonna put Ron Paul you might as well put Rand as well (as he is pretty much a household name by now) :)

I see howard stern on that list, but I've heard him speak some strong statist garbage before.

Anyways, i'm just going by memory here. On what basis is he libertarian? What source confirms this?

John Mayer... maybe im not sure if this was serious or not

I've never heard him mention Ron Paul. Granted I only occasionally listen but still never even around debate times etc. I could be wrong. Anyone heard him talk about rp?

Greg Gutfeld, host of RedEye. If you're including Stossel and the Judge then he would apply as well.
