NO WAY! The American Independent Party has been the California affiliate of the Constitution Party since 1992 and now their affiliating themselves with a new party!? This really shows you the dire condition of politics here in California. The CP and the new AIP platforms are quite similar except for one glaring difference, the new AIP has adopted an interventionist stance on foreign policy!

As Ronald Reagan opposed and defeated the designs and desire of the Soviet Union to dominate the world and place it under the tyranny of their Evil Empire, we oppose the Islamic extremists. This opposition is not based in opposition to their religion, but in a complete rejection of their political ideology and actions. Since the first principle of America is the protection of innocent human life, an ongoing state of war exists between us and any who would use acts of terrorism targeted at innocent civilians to forward their political aims.

Here is the kicker, the new AIP has now nominated Keyes as their presidential candidate, even though the AIP has secured ballot access under the pretense that Chuck Baldwin would be our presidential nominee!

-----

I just got off the phone with the chairman-elect of the new AIP. I asked him who would be on the ballot come November and he said "Alan Keyes" ugh! I told him he was just another neo-con, I was pissed off.

I told him that I was disappointed in that decision and that that they had adopted an interventionist foreign policy, which he did not deny. I told him he was going to lose supporters that were turned on by Ron Paul and he replied that Ron Paul was not a constitutionalist, but a Libertarian. I asked him how he expected to pay for an interventionist military, but he couldn't answer the question. He would not get off the topic of abortion, which he clearly made a point should be outlawed at the federal level. I kept pressing about states rights and that RP is against Roe v Wade, but then he started mocking me by saying that "its always about what Ron Paul is against". lol, the guy said RP was against the death penalty like it was a bad thing!

Guys if you think the CP is a party of theocrats, just take a look at this situation. You have a party in CALIFORNIA of all places that thinks the CP is not "religious" enough. I might have to vote for Barr this election, if Baldwin is not on our ballot. This is a major setback for liberty options here in California. I urge all CP fans, to contact these guys.

Why would I vote for Alan Keyes when I can vote for McCain and have essentially the same thing?

Tis what I basically told them. Bad move on their part. Very bad move.

Here is a letter I sent over to the new AIP and its officials...

To whom it may concern,

You guys have done one heck of a job of limiting the options for Constitutionally minded voters here in California, by hijacking the AIP and nominating a neo-con and theocrat (Alan Keyes) as your presidential candidate. Your new platform is no better than the one behind the current Republican administration. The adoption of an interventionist foreign policy is most disturbing; in that it upholds the supremacy of the Federal Reserve to create money. Surely you could not expect an informed American citizenry to support the absurd idea of a perpetual war on "terrorism" without implementing the insidious inflation tax, a tax without representation.

Perhaps renaming the AIP to the Christian Zionist party is more appropriate. After all, the new platform is clearly beholden to internationalist bankers and lobbyists instead of the American people. With the inception of this new party, you have effectively nullified ANY new support that you could have garnered by the Ron Paul R3volution. You and your minions have hijacked the party at a most critical time, especially with the pretense that the honorable Chuck Baldwin would be our nominee. If you thought the original AIP was going nowhere, your new party will remain in the fringes of Californian 3rd party politics indefinitely if it is not restored and re-affiliated with the Constitution Party.

This isn't over yet. The courts may well decide to recognize the faction of the AIP that IS affiliated with the CP. Baldwin may still be on the CA ballot.

I read about this a couple of months ago...now the constitution party is split. Welcome to the real world. the LP is split also....the purists are grudge voting against Bob Barr...now the CP will have angst also. BLAH..tones

UPDATE 9/01

Damn... It looks like Chuck Baldwin won't be an option here in California, thanks to that frog Keyes his backers. However, he most likely will be a certified write-in candidate.

August 26, 2008: Superior Court Judge Michael Kenny ruled in favor of the Noonan faction and Alan Keyes. The judge stated that the lawsuit should have been filed earlier, and that Alan Keyes should have been served as part of the action. The case is dismissed without prejudice, indicating that this case was decided on a technicality. The issue as to who are the officers of the AIP has not been decided in this court case. (Wikipedia)

Protectionism is not a dirty word. Look at our economy due to outsourcing. tones

Look at our economy due to protectionism. Our economy is not bad because of the free market or free trade, it's garbage because of the government and it's protectionistic policies that work against most of US citizens. If you're a protectionist, then you're not a libertarian.
