I last attended the CP national convention in 2008 as a delegate for Chuck Baldwin. I'm not involved this time around but here are the nominees that will be voted on tomorrow (Saturday 4/16)

* J.R. Myers (Alaska)
* Tom Hoefling (Iowa)
* Daniel Cummings (Wyoming)
* Scott Copeland (Texas)
* Jeremy Friedbaum (Utah)
* Don Grundman (California)
* John Diamond (Pennsylvania)
* Darrell Castle (Tennessee)

Myers and Hoefling can bring ballot access to California while the other candidates are known and trusted within the CP. My guess is Castle gets the endorsement but that is just my hunch. No real inside knowledge.

Are any of them any good? Or are they Ted Cruz wannabes?

Castle seems pretty good.

Copeland is a staunch pro lifer.

Hoefling was aligned with Alan Keyes and his faction split the California American Independent Party away from the CP. That's why he can bring the ballot access because he controls the party in CA that is already qualified. Policy aside, their actions in 2008 leave a bitter taste in my mouth and I cannot support him.

I like Castle from what I know about him. I can't say for sure if he's the best choice for them, but he's almost certainly the most respected within the party so he's a natural pick. I remember I really liked J.R Myers when he ran for AK governor.

Hoefling sucks I think. Don't know much about the others.

Hopefully the CP picks someone good, the LP just gets worse and worse.

Yeah Tennessee! (Donning my coon skin cap and whistling the Davy Crockett theme song.) Remember the Alamo! The Tennessee volunteers are a coming! (Seriously I like the sound of this. I might get involved. Gotta see who the libertarians are throwing up.)

I voted for Virgil Goode 2012 on the strength of Chuck Baldwin from 2008 only to learn later that Goode was a neocon. :( Nobody gets it right every time I suppose.

Castle was Chuck Baldwin's VP candidate in 2008, wasn't he? IIRC, Baldwin urged the party pretty strongly to nominate him.

Castle was the vice presidential candidate on Baldwin's ticket.

Darrell Castle wins on the first ballot. He will be a good alternative in November.

Castle 184 54.2%
Copeland. 103.5. 30.5%
Hoefling 19
Cummings 9
Myers 9
Grundman 6
Diamond 5
Friedbaum 4

Any of them Ron Paul 2008/2012 supporters?

Ron Paul ended up endorsing Baldwin/Castle in '08.
