Conservatives: Transcend McCain with Ron Paul "Conservative Party" Candidacy

1. Resolved: Ron Paul should abandon the congressional race, begin a new party called “The Conservative Party”, and name Barry Goldwater Jr. as his VP candidate.

Reasoning: There is no one with the courage or intellect of Dr. Paul. He is the constitutionalists’ only hope for the next 50 years or so. His and our time is now.

2. Resolved: The Ron Paul movement will fracture quickly unless Dr. Paul continues to run for president as an alternative to the Republican and Democratic Parties, both hopelessly mired in the swamp of FDR big governmentism.

Reasoning: The proposition seems self-evident. A fragmented group of bloggers will not have staying power. There must be a formal party around which we can group, so Dr. Paul can get into the fall debates as Ross Perot did.

FYI: Paul (or any other candidate) will only be included in the fall debates if (s)he is polling at least 15% nationally.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Introducing the Conservative Coalition!

Libertarian Party
+ Constitution Party
+ GOP conservatives
----------------------------
= Conservative Coalition

The ConCo has ballot access in every state, and can draft Paul/Barr or Paul/Goldwater.

Important to support Ron Paul Republicans Running!

and also to make sure to support the Libertarian and Constitution Party candidate whomever he or she might be in the Fall...McCain must go down!

If Ron paul does well in Texas, then may be he can consider dropping his congressional seat and running as governor of Texas if 3rd party fails. That can be his plan b.

Forget Barr, but I'd be willing to accept Goldwater Jr. as VP! :) Ron's already stated his position so I'll continue working within the GOP.

Dr. Paul has stated his position, but it would not be wrong to try to talk him out of it or for him to abandon it.

Might also include former Reform party, not much left but we need every vote.

Also, I would take Andrew Napolitano over Goldwater JR. Both are good but the Judge brings more credibility and name recognition.

Moreover, time is short and attrition will begin in waves unless we can see a presidential candidacy in the offing--which will not happen in the Stupid Party.

I think this is a great idea. I'm not convinced it could be done before fall (not enough time?), but it should definitely be done! If we move patiently and deliberately, a Conservative Coalition could become a real force. Don't give up!

This would mean the death of the Republican Party.

I have been thinking about this since 2004 at least.

Issues:

Whats the plank for:

social issues
abortion
immigration

Otherwise, the Constitution Party and Libertarian Party could pretty much merge.
