Confirmed huge victory in Alaska!

We won because many of the Santorum delegates are actually Ron Paul supporters that got elected.

There is a problem with that, however. One of the State rules allows the national campaigns to vet delegates - which means that many of our guys who think they are going to national as Santorum delegates might get replaced in the weeks and months ahead. We were unable to pass rules changes from the floor of the convention because they shut it down early.

Couldn't they just gone out to the parking lot and vote the rule change since it wasn't shut down with a 2/3 vote. If true then the ron paul
supporters should just go back the next day. Start the convention back up and vote it up or down. That's what they did in Georgia.

All they got to say is I love Santorum and make their facebook page private if anything Paul is on it. How else would they know and why would they care since Santorum is out.

The Ron Paul supporters who were at the convention are now known as such.

I don't understand the maneuvering that took place. The central committee met after the convention ended, and that's where it was confirmed that we won the party chair and vice chair.

but Alaska state rules say they are only bound so long as the candidate is maintaining an 'active' campaign. Santorum to my mind isn't although I don't know if there is a definition of that somewhere that would count 'suspended'.

Just got off the phone with my dad who was a delegate. despite some interesting shenanigans and strange rules that we were unable to overturn, Ron Paul was won the clear plurality of delegates from Alaska, and strong Ron Paul supporters have been electes to the positions of State Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary. I will add more when i get to my computer.

EDIT: Okay. According to my dad,the current Party Chairman, Randy Reudrich, will retain his position as party chair until January, at which time the newly elected chair will take over. That's another state party rule. [edited by mod]

What happened was that Randy Reudrich adjourned the convention early,

So while we did VERY well in Alaska, we were not 100% successful in every effort.

Also, the new National Committeeman and Committeewoman are not outright Ron Paul supporters, but I have been told that they are "Ron Paul friendly," whatever that means. Frankly, it means very little to me, because at this point if you're not at least "Ron Paul friendly" in the Alaska GOP, you're going to be marginalized and probably booted from any position of power come next year.

Much like what has happened around the country, you can see the chess pieces moving into place. When Rand Paul runs in 2016, we won't be fighting the corrupt establishment anymore. We will be the establishment.

Do you think it is wise to be blaring this publicly? It seems to me that we are just outing our guys and pretty much telling the establishment what they need to do to weed them out.

Just try not to become corrupt.

Seriously.

It won't be easy. Some people, even though they're Ron Paul supporters, will become corrupted once put in leadership positions and exposed to power.

Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

That is why we have separation and competition of powers written into our sadly ignored Constitution.

And that is also why Ron Paul, who has never become corrupt, is so admirable

I was going to say remarkable, but, honestly, we need to make 'not being corrupt' and 'sticking to the oath of office' absolute baselines for candidates.

I am not worried about our guys becoming 'corrupt.' The new state chair is a pretty humble dude. And we're seeking to reduce the power held by a privileged few, not expand power for ourselves.

Another lesson learned about what the party elite will try. State conventions will be nuts.
