Just got off the phone with my dad who was a delegate. despite some interesting shenanigans and strange rules that we were unable to overturn, Ron Paul was won the clear plurality of delegates from Alaska, and strong Ron Paul supporters have been electes to the positions of State Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary. I will add more when i get to my computer.

EDIT: Okay. According to my dad, the current Party Chairman, Randy Reudrich, will retain his position as party chair until January, at which time the newly elected chair will take over. That's another state party rule. [edited by mod]

What happened was that Randy Reudrich adjourned the convention early,

So while we did VERY well in Alaska, we were not 100% successful in every effort.

Also, the new National Committeeman and Committeewoman are not outright Ron Paul supporters, but I have been told that they are "Ron Paul friendly," whatever that means. Frankly, it means very little to me, because at this point if you're not at least "Ron Paul friendly" in the Alaska GOP, you're going to be marginalized and probably booted from any position of power come next year.

Much like what has happened around the country, you can see the chess pieces moving into place. When Rand Paul runs in 2016, we won't be fighting the corrupt establishment anymore. We will be the establishment.

Further Edit: Here is a link to a daily paul post: http://www.dailypaul.com/229609/victory-in-alaska The post slightly contradicts some earlier information I had posted. I'm not sure which is accurate but I'm inclined to believe this post because I didn't get to talk to my dad for very long.

Of note in that post is that there may be a meeting in June to discuss rules changes, which may work to our favor if we can get Randy Reudrich out of his state chair position earlier - maybe even send our new chair to national as a supervoter?

what about National Committeeman and Woman? VERY imp because they are delegates too and would give Ron the plurality.....which might not have been the deal, but sure would have been nice if it were!!!

and +rep and thank you!!

[edit, sounds like our plurality counts some bound to Santorum who are really our people. By walking out on the convention, per a discussion in another thread, they kept us from changing the rules that let the OLD chair continue to serve at RNC.]

If we won all the positions, how did Romney and Santorum get 2 more delegates than paul each.

that was the primary binding part that they closed the convention by fleeing to destroy quorum so we couldn't change, it sounds like. But they are only bound so long as the candidate maintains an ACTIVE campaign and reportedly we got some of Santorum's, who is NOT active, so..... we need details clarified, clearly.

I think he "suspended" his campaign.

Better Santorum than Romney though.

yeah, but it says 'bound so long as the candidate maintains an active campaign'. In a dictionary 'active' and 'suspended' would be opposites, I should think....

but I guess I don't know for sure....

Dare I say this ... that's better than sex! LOL

Edit: And I actually got to watch this over and over again!

It's so funny to watch him squirm, but then when they start chanting, "Ron Paul," "Ron Paul," he just looks exasperated!!!

So how many Ron Paul Delegates are going to Tampa from Alaska?

Rear Clear Politics says that Ron has 6. Did tonight's "Huge Victory" change that total and if so, what is the new total of committed delegates for Paul from Alaska?

Can Alaska, under Rule 40b, now be put as one of the States that can nominate our Hero for President in Tampa?
