Condescending Reporter gets OWNED by Ron Paul grassroots in front of Santorum Rally

This was pretty bad.

We all need debate skills and to work on messaging.

And especially think how they can cut this for TV..

I didnt think it was that good actually..

THey could have answered the whole korean question by saying that South Korea has 8x the population and 40x the economy of North Korea.. so they are more than able to take care of themselves.

Not everybody is a walking encyclopedia like Dr. Paul...

You don't have to be a walking encyclopedia. Just don't accept their premises that they try to pass off as fact, and learn how to answer questions with your own questions.

Q. So you would rather the whole Korean Peninsula would look like N. Korea?

A. What evidence do you have that would have actually happened? How do you know that the whole peninsula might now look like S. Korea?

This issue is a peave of mine (not that I'm Mr. Know It All) and if I was there they would have never run the story. N Korea has 54 TIMES in GDP of the North ... the 13th largest economy in the world, yet they only spend 2.5% of thier own GDP on defense. There is NO argument for us to have 30,000 U.S troops on the DMZ since Ron Paul was in high school. In fact, should our commanders know the North would come across the border in mass, we have standing orders to evacuate troops and their families to Japan. My brother-in-law has been there with the Army for the last two years. Gimmie a mic. Brietbart, Neocon, jerks.
+1

Exactly!!!

I was surprised that Ron Paul supporters had no idea that South Korea was filthy rich to the point of being second only to Japan as the richest Asian country with ditto rank in standard of living. If South Koreans are provoked thay have the capability to arm themselves to the teeth and deliver a deadly blow to any of their neighbors, much less the dirt poor North Korea which is tethering in bankruptcy.

good job guys !
but that "reporter" tried very hard to make them look kooky,
but on some points i think they could have answered better.

They could have answered better, but they weren't wrong to be at the event that far away. (some people going 'why, why, why')

Larry O'Connor: "So, my question is, what happens when we pull our troops out of South Korea?"

Here's what happens clueless Larry... South Korea starts taking full responsibility for their own defense and starts paying for it too.

I love the stuff at the end though... "Did Bin Ladin attack us?" "No comment." "I don't know, the FBI didn't think so either."
"So, if he may not have attacked us, did Obama murder Bin Laden?" "How do we even know he was there?"

I love Ron Paul supporters. We all think so much alike.

LMAO at "I'm not asking any gotcha questions! You can't name one gotcha question that I've asked today. Now you do think 9/11 was an inside job right?"

Obviously a deep paraphrase to make the point but...

South Korea can take care of itself. Taiwan and China don't get along very well, but we don't have any bases in Taiwan and they hold their own against big bad China. South Korea would do just fine. That question is a gotcha question because it's asked with the assumption that South Korea is helpless without us, and that anybody who doesn't want to defend South Korea is heartless.

If anybody runs into reporters like this again and doesn't feel prepared to deflect these kinds of malicious questions, I'd just say "You should ask Dr. Paul. He represents us. We don't represent him."

He didn't exactly get owned. I wish I was there, I'd ask his condescending ass back why we don't go into Russia, China, or Syria, or Somalia, or Soudi Arabia, or ect country that has a ruthless dictator killing people. Why was Korea so special? And how come Vietnam once we left actually united, westernized themselves and became a trading partner. Also they focused too much on money and not enough on lives lost. I truly wish I was there to own his smug ass in two seconds.

Well, if you had done that we wouldn't be seeing it on youtube. They have the power of edit, you know. That is why the only Paul supporters that Hannity and Rush let through sound like potheads. They don't want intelligent answers being showed to the public because it devastates their position.

Actually their answer was better. THe facts you are offering as argument are coincidental and irrelevant to the discussion and implicitly would justify American intervention if the numbers were different.

Good point + rep.

"I think you are sensitive"

hahah

I thought these guys did great. I love the fact that beetbear had to preface his question with, you guys are Ron Paul supporters, you know history.

I mean ya, it's pretty easy to have a list of tough history questions, tough supreme court questions, and come down on a group of people who are "known" for being educated, and try to make them look like idiots by asking "gotcha" questions.

If britblah was really interested in having a discussion, he could have dropped the condescending tone, and acknowledged the fact that the constitution requires that Congress declare war before committing troops to endless occupation in places like S.Korea. I don't see how ignoring the law of the land is a very effective way to convince Ron Paul supporters that he had honest intentions.

Ya the big joke when I was stationed there was that our presence was to prevent the South from attacking the North.

I guess I'm missing something. With the exception of "sunglasses and coffee", the rest seemed kind of all over the place in their arguments. And sweet Christ, REGARDLESS of what anyone thinks, the truther crowd needs to stop advocating that to media outlets in the middle of an election, even if only by inuendo.
