I've been noticing a lot of comments in the zeitgeist here recently about Bernie Sanders' campaign, how its a "revolution" and "grassroots." So I went out to the meme-net to try and find some direct parallels to Ron Paul's 2008 run. What I've noticed is that supporters of Sanders have been making the same complaints about bias and critiques of their candidate that we made in defense of Ron in 2008. I submit some proof for you below. What do you think?

"I would vote for him, but. . . "

So what do you think? Just the nature of the two campaigns fighting against "Big Party" or did a lot of RP 2008 supporters find their way into the Bernie Camp?

I would hope a Ron Paul supporter would know better but I think a few made it into the Sanders camp.

The key difference being that Sanders is a self avowed socialist and yes, socialists are STILL unelectable in this country. At least for the time being. To get this type of enthusiasm with a message of self dependence and freedom seems much more impressive than by promising a bunch of kids with no real world experience free stuff.

Ron Paul and Bernie Sanders are nothing alike beside from bring in tons of crowds.

Sanders should come out and say he supports serfdom over freedom. Ron Paul advocates Freedom over serfdom.

Also, I don't think Sanders suffers much from the "if everyone who says they would vote for him if he could win voted for him he'd actually win" problem. Most Bernie supporters are voting for Bernie. His problem boils down to the fact that there just aren't many of the type of people who support him left in the Democratic Party.

It's possible they could have some crossover supporters, from independent types... but I think it's probably more to do with the nature of going up against Big Party, and their similar strategies of reaching out to young people through the Internet. Like Ron, he is all over the Internet.... so the memes aren't surprising. But yeah his supporters are just seeing similar tactics by the news media, which aren't really new.

They're both FOR the people BY the people candidates and are popular among the young/youth voters.
