I know this guy is just a columnist but the statement below makes it seem like he was also one of the GOP insiders who picked Cassis:

Bentivolio didn't participate in our endorsement process, so I never got a chance to interview him.

Just gave the author a nice dose of reality as to how much influence the party insiders think they currently have and how it's falling off the cliff as the new PDs are sat going into the Jan state convention.

The media said that Justin Amash would get a primary challenge...well did he? nope. GOPers realized how much they love Justin Amash and nobody challenged him. He won 64% (I think) on Tuesday.

I don't know why, but Roll Call is saying that it will be difficult for Justin Amash: http://atr.rollcall.com/house-race-ratings-changes-in-michigan-and-washington/

sigh.....that's why we have to elect liberty candidates like Thomas Massie in safe districts. Justin Amash has a 50-49% Obama district. His anti-war, pro-civil liberties may help him. I think he'll win...I hope.

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing Spoa said. The establishment said they were coming after Justin, but didn't bother to try to beat him in the primary.

He might have a tough road - the establishment did indeed redistrict, and gave him a district that is more blue than the old one.

Amash received 51,000 votes and Thomas & Pestka combined received about 22,000 votes. That shows this is definitely a red district and I'll go out on a limb here and say Amash wins by 10% or more in November...

Amash WAS in a "safe" district! His district was only recently redrawn.
