This is just a suggestion, because no leading Republican contender has articulated plans to extricate American troops from a misguided, costly war. And most candidates have endorsed Bush's irresponsible fiscal and monetary policies.

Accordingly, by supporting Rep. Ron Paul, we urge local Republican caucus-goers to send a message to the GOP to reform itself. Paul has been a thorn in the GOP's side during his 16 years as a Texas congressman with libertarian leanings.
.

Paul, who has generated grassroots support in Western states, pledges to quickly extract us from Iraq. He has been a vocal critic of the Patriot Act as well as America's misguided War on Drugs.

Perhaps most significantly, he's a legitimate fiscal conservative. Funny, but fiscal restraint used to be a Republican hallmark. After years of runaway spending and unchecked government growth, supporting Paul is a clarion call for the GOP to rediscover its roots.

Paul has no chance of winning, but if he can repeat his second-place showing from Nevada, it will send a strong message that the GOP should again become the party of government restraint, favoring environmental stewardship, civil liberties and local power over federal intrusion.

It's interesting that they say how they cannot endorse Paul because he isn't a leading candidate, and they merely recommend him because he will pull out of Iraq but isn't a front runner.

I'm tired of these catch 22s. Same garbage when people saying Paul isn't polling well so thats why he doesn't get MSM coverage. Well, if he got MSM coverage he would be polling well.

*sigh*

Paul has no chance of winning...

Feels like they're shoving a burning hot needle in my eye every time! I'm so sick of the media, even when they're trying to write a support piece, they are so brainwashed by the national news that they can't get past this notion.

HE CAN WIN.

With Romney & Huck splitting the evangelicals who see McCain for what he is, Romney sees the writing on the wall. The question is, will he endorse McCain (I don't think he likes Mac, but there may be something in it for him, VP) I think Romney sees he can't beat McCain with Huck dogging him, and is likely to call it a day and endorse Mac. Huck will likely drop out after super tuesday and may also endorse Mac.

The way things are shaping up, it looks like a two horse race, Paul & McCain. If you go back and look at the votes, I believe McCain is getting the only percentages he will ever get. Every vote for anyone but McCain is a voter against McCain, the dude is not very well liked.

Now, if it is a two horse race, can the media still avoid Ron Paul? What if he's beating McCain in several states, and Ron catches fire with all the anti-McCain voters?

I believe this election is very winable. I think it may just be in the bag, especially if the supporters who've become disallusioned come back strong. If it gets to two, the funn raising will intensify, as will the precinct captains. This could end up being a landslide for freedom.

It's winnable. Maine would help a lot, and we need to win at least a few on Super Tuesday. If it's down to us and McCain, and we can hold him short of the threshold for a little while, we may be able to start winning everything.

Hey guys, let me know if my thinking is flawed here.

I am new precinct leader, for a relatively small precinct in Ohio. This is the first time I have ever even thought of becoming involved in a campaign, as there has not been a candidate that inspires me as much as Dr. Paul. However, our primaries are not until March, so I am kind of holding out to see what happens on Super Tuesday before I dump a bunch of personal money into getting the word out in my precinct, just in case Dr. Paul is statistically eliminated after Super Tuesday (though by most reports, it seems they have already him statistically eliminated).

Have there been any hints that he might run as an independent? If so, this might change things.

An easy way to get started now is to conduct non-biased phone polling. Use the script on the precinct leader website to call your precinct residents. Collect the information about each voter so that you can do targeted marketing to them after Super Tuesday.

I'd say there's a good chance. Even with the current media blackout, he's polling 11% in a McCain vs. Obama race. As he gets more and more name recognition and people understand his policies more (from commercials), that number is sure to rise to the 15% threshhold needed for the debates and viability.
