What's the big deal with polygamy? You're free to have frivolous sex with as many people as you want, but you're not free to marry them?

Agreed. As long as its consensual people should be free to marry not only whoever they want but as many as they want. The college girl should have said this and completely deconstruct his argument.

The main trap to the argument though is it confuses quantity with substance.

There's nothing wrong with building safety codes that say a concert at the bar is limited to no more than 500 people. As long as everyone is treated equally. This would not be true if it limited people based on gender or ethnicity.

Though I don't have a problem with polygamy, it isn't even the same issue.
