Former military leaders kept up a barrage of criticism of President Trump on Sunday for his threat to use military force against protesters, warning the commander in chief’s actions could drive a wedge between the U.S. military and civilians.

The most withering critique came from Colin Powell in an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union.” The former secretary of state and chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff called Trump a chronic liar who had “drifted away” from the Constitution and become a danger to the country.


Powell said he plans to vote for Joe Biden for president and urged Americans to search their conscience and vote for the candidate who is best for the country as a whole, not only themselves.

“We’re not the country of just the president, we have a Congress, we have a Supreme Court,” said Powell, lamenting the silence from Republican members of Congress and lauding the retired military officials who have spoken out against Trump.

Yes I am very disappointed with President Trump for not pulling our troops out of Iraq. I'd wager that Trump probably isn't souring over not getting an endorsement from someone who was part of the Bush administration. Heck, he might even wear that as a badge of honor.

Trump wanted to end globalist neocons interventions but he may have been forced into staying on after unbearable pressure from folks like his top donor. Trump's Syria bombing was only done after he was convinced by his daughter Ivanka, reportedly.

And to be fair, Powell was a reluctant joiner of Bush-Cheney-Neocons cabal in taxpayers funded and "4 out of 5 US Church goers supported" Iraq war against 'axis of evil'.
Looking at MAGA/GOP-Adelson wing's track record, Powell would probably have been given his 3rd Freedom Medal had he praised MAGA-in-chief and switched loyalties again. All this war of words warfare seems more self-interest based ( or perhaps partially tribal) than principled by both parties involved in this skirmish.
