If you're a current coinbase user and have a friend sign up with a link, and they buy $100 + in bitcoin, you get $75 in bitcoin yourself.

Good time to convert those friends and family who haven't joined the bitcoin world. Although I will say that even offering $40 of that to some friends I have had a lot of people just say no.. too complex. Even offering to front them the $100 so it's just free money in their pocket, no too complex. Some people!

Imagine if we could get all the non coinbase user RPF people, we could give a nice donation to our favorite candidate via bitcoin

Bitcoin is not any more complicated than using a e-mail program. People just are "scared" of anything new.

1. go to coinbase, link your checking account. Wait until verified.
2. Download Bitcoin Core client, that's the "real" bitcoin software and wait for a long time for it to completely sync to the network (8 hours to a few days, depending on your internet speed, and computer speed), or you can just use coinbase as your wallet I suppose.
3. Once step 1 is done, buy some bitcoins, and either leave them there, or transfer them to your local wallet and backup your wallet.
4. Shop at a place that accepts bitcoin. At checkout copy the payment address into your send field in your wallet, and copy the amount. click send. You will see a confirmation screen on the website stating the payment was made, and see it in your wallet.
5. That's it.

If holding your bitcoins on your own computer, don't browse shady sites, or download unknown files. Best to have a computer just for your bitcoins and sensitive financial stuff anyway. Even better by a hardware wallet, but that's only applicable really if you buy a substantial amount of bitcoins.

It's not "complicated" though, browsing the internet is just as complicated if not more.

1. Buy a computer, or use current one equipped with a network adapter, or buy an external network device compatible with your computer.
2. Contact a local ISP, provide them with an acceptable payment method and schedule a date for installation.
3. Wait.
4. Once your internet is active to modem, connect the modem to your network adapter, or setup your wifi by accessing the hybrid modem router administration page and setting up a password, then entering that password in the appropriate location in your wifi management software.
5. Download a "internet" browser, to facilitate connecting to the "World Wide Web".
6. Download and install anti virus, anti-malware sofware.
7 Make sure your firewall is setup up on your local computer, and if using a router on that as well.
8 Apply all windows updates and insure all software is the latest versions.
9. Familiarize yourself with the internet browser, what are links, type a website address, popular search engine, what's a torrent, what's a zip file, what's flash, what is silverlight. Install appropriate trusted software.
etc.......
