I am unapologetically pro-life. It is imperative that the U.S. protect every single life from birth to death. I understand the value of life and that God is the only one that can give and take it away. I will fight for every single unborn life in Texas.









Religious Freedom

Religious Freedom needs to be protected at all costs. While serving in the United States Air Force and traveling around the world, I saw first hand what happens when religion is persecuted by the government, I can not let that happen here at home. As a defender of liberty I am against the notion that the government has a say in what our churches and pastors can and cannot preach. Our churches are under no obligation to give up their sermons or do anything that they, as a religious entity, do not believe is part of their faith, and as your next State Representative, I will fight to keep it that way.




2nd Amendment

I feel that it is an individual’s Constitutional right to be able to defend and arm their person. My Grandfather gave me my first gun when I was ten years old, a Remington 20-gauge shotgun. I was taught how to handle it responsibly and how to defend myself. I took an oath to uphold the Constitution when the Air Force gave me my second gun to defend America, and I will continue to uphold that oath and defend the 2nd Amendment as the Representative of 130.




FairTax

Property taxes are unconstitutional. In the state of Texas you can never own property, you must pay rent on it, to the government, for as long as you live. As your next State Representative I will work to eliminate the Property Tax; that is why I am a strong proponent of the FairTax to be implemented in the state of Texas. It will eliminate the Property Tax throughout the state and be able to bring in revenue through goods being consumed rather than through property taxes that hurt property owners.




SECURE OUR BORDER

Secure the Border

When the Federal Government refuses to secure the Texas border, then it is violating its promise to Texans, and U.S. Citizens, as outlined in the Constitution. I can not stand by while our border is being penetrated by people that want to do harm on this country. We need to do right by Texans and secure the border.




Education

Education reform starts with bringing it back to the local levels. The Federal government has no business telling our schools what to do and how to do it. Education decisions belong with the Parent, Teacher, and the district. We know our children and what they need to succeed; and therefore, I will fight for local control of the education system in Texas.

Protect Property Values

It is time to end the government subsidies for low income and section 8 housing being built in our district. These NIMBY’s destroy the lifelong investment thousands of Texans have put into their home. Stop the incentives, and let businesses compete without government interference. Let Capitalism and the Free Market decide property values, not the government.

He has a lot of connections to the liberty movement. Turns out he was Matt Bevin's deputy campaign manager this year. I don't see anything to suggest that he is not a liberty candidate, maybe he hasn't detailed enough positions to convince you though.In Texas, publicly advocating the elimination of property taxes as he has, puts you pretty strongly in the liberty column.

He has the potential to be a very serious candidate. I'm sure we will hear more about him.

His associations are promising, but I'm going to have to dig deeper and/or wait until more comes out.

Edit: I take that back. David Simpson is from Texas and is a pretty ideal liberty candidate. Stickland is a close second.

Drugs are the only issue you mentioned that is really controversial here. And even that is changing, I remember you listed Rep. Steve Toth as a fellow traveler when ran for State Senate. He was on the radio recently discussing Simpson's cannabis bill, Steve has gone total liberty on that. He's a preacher, and was a hardline law and order type when elected. He said committee hearings showed him how messed up our system is.

Everyone and his dog in Texas says he's for the 10th amendment now. Both the right and left oppose too much police power. That's why no one cosponsored Jason Villalba's anti police filming bill. The Police Union PAC's are the the main thing really opposing liberty in that regard now. They spent heavily against our candidates last cycle.

I didn't say that you should assume that he is a liberty candidate because of his taxation views. However, in my experience here, the only people who want to eliminate property taxes are liberty movement members. So I'm just saying it points towards him being liberty.

His associations are promising, but I'm going to have to dig deeper and/or wait until more comes out.

Thanks for the update Jonathan. I wasn't tracking McNutt, but certainly will now. Getting the word out about these guys early and often is key so we don't have a close loss like Eby had last go around.

As of a few weeks ago he still hadn't decided. He ran in 2012 as well as 2014, I think it was pretty hard to lose the 2nd time.

I agreed to be the Treasurer of Cody's campaign because Cody is the true Liberty & Conservative candidate in this race. He was a combat vet for 7 years, went to A&M, where I graduated from as well, and then spent his life in the trenches for Liberty candidates. He worked as Senior Staff on Milton Wolf’s, Martha McSally’s and more recently Matt Bevin’s race for Governor.

His campaign manager, Donna Saa, who is also my wife, is in the same boat. She worked for Milton Wolf and Matt Bevin and only supports true conservatives. She’s a Fundraiser by trade and is working as the Campaign Manager for Cody’s race and doing the fundraising as well. There is a lot of Liberty support for him already and the establishment already has their pick with Tom Oliverson. He’s got the best chance to beat Tom and is the only one with the mentality we really want in the State. Well Tom Oliverson doesn't have an "issues page" so I don't know what to think. On his "About Tom" page he references the NRA and TSRA so that makes me think he'll have to be dragged unwillingly by activists towards constitutional carry just like we dragged those orgs to licensed open carry.

Can you really soldiers, Sailors, Marines, and Airmen accountable in today's society? 99.99% of today's society, media, and education system have no idea the type of philosophy you are talking about. Kids are raised with that as their major influence, and can enlist in the military at 17ish.

How many good decisions did you make at 17 or 18? Had you formulated your philosophy yet?

Defense is a constitutional mandate of the federal government. The military isn't structured so personnel can take part when politicians are engaging them in constitutional and just defensive activities and then drop out when things go offensive and unjust.

Yes, I was fortunate to meet several Libertarians before I was even 16.
