CNN - Ron Paul ponders 2012! "I am very serious about thinking about it all the time"

I have far less passion about GJ, but I think he has more national appeal due to his age and previous experience.
I disagree. GJ is a totally undramatic speaker, his family life is questionable and has already been type cast as a single issue candidate. Pro MJ legalization. This will not fly in the rep primaries. He is a strong fiscal conservative but he first made national news by coming out as the first Republican to support MJ legalization and that is some of the first info the comes up if you Google GJ. He has done nothing to change this and only emphasizes it every speach he makes. It may fly with the young libertarian crowd but the general republican rank in file will not be turned on by this.

Johnson says the right things and has a pretty good background, but whenever I hear Gary Johnson mentioned, I think back to the speech he gave at Rally for the Republic in Minnesota in Sept. 08.

I was fired up and ready to be impressed by the guy, but he was probably the least inspiring speaker of the day- he just didn't know how to hold a crowd- generally listless, stepping on his own applause lines, no rhythm to his speech.

Ron Paul, hardly "Mr. Charisma," did a much better job.

Yeah, I'd also love to see RP run, but after hearing this I'm convinced he's not going to win.
If he was holding his cards close to his chest, secretly planning for it but blustering in public about not wanting it, that'd be one thing... but that's not like him.

If he wants to run, he has to start planning RIGHT NOW.
He's not going to win if his suits don't fit and he's fiddling with his jacket and his hair looks like he's been sleeping on a plane. It's a fact. It sucks, but it's a fact, and has been since Nixon ran in 1960.

Besides all the political machinery that has to be oiled, he needs a complete makeover. And he can't just do it overnight because people will notice. He has to go all Michael Jackson's face with it, if he doesn't want it to be the only thing people talk about.

Two years is a stretch for just that. How we're going to stop the crooked conventions, the stuffed ballot boxes, the lying media, and the entire Keynesian propaganda machine is another matter.

I want him to run, not GJ. Gary Johnson is young enough to run next time. This would be Ron Paul's last chance to run, and I want him to take it. This is a game of inches. Even if Dr. Paul runs next time knowing he is going to lose, it is ok with me. The main point is that we have liberty candidates running every single race from now on. We need to keep eating away at the enemy. Every election should be a chance for the message to spread further and the enemies to decrease. As we gain more and more support, it is only a matter of time that we become a major threat that can no longer be ignored.

As much as I want Ron Paul to win, I'd just love to hear him hammer the statists during the debates. It would be all the sweeter to expose Obama's hypocricy if Ron Paul had the chance to debate him. The war issue alone would be an embarassment to Obama's campaign.
