CNN Anchor: Is an asteroid falling from sky "an effect of global warming?"

But guys, its the creationists who are "nutballs" and "kooks", not these enlightened scientific intellectuals! Armed with the infallible truths of modern science, these people can never err!

Stop it.

We didn't hear Bill's response, now did we? Doesn't mean you get to manufacture one along the lines of the newscaster's logic. We ask, you decide is a multi-dimensional shenanigan, it seems.

Why? Global warming hysteria is a direct result of religio-statist science.

Global warming isn't the issue. It's busy speak. A meme. Jumping on that bandwagon from any partisan angle is anti-productive in educating people to where change truly is happening. All of the planets are warming up. It's a physics. Universal. The work of "God" if you wish.

And we're doing wonderful things in the area of asteroid research. Remember back in the old days when we used to watch those old cowboy shows? The bad guy's used to hang out in the bushes and wait for the train loaded full of goodies because they knew it was on it's way? They knew exactly when to hop on didn't they?

I sure do wish I had some snake oil.

Yes. Oily snakes work better. They move faster and eliminate more field mice. You can keep the field mice out of your long term food stores with HALF the snakes as long as you have snake oil around to lube those puppies up once a month.

@ news anchor, it takes all her concentration to keep breathing.

I'm not saying she's actually smart, don't get me wrong, but I'd imagine she as an actor was pissed that they wanted her to read that line. Or who knows, maybe she's into the bimbo image and enjoyed it. What I mean is I am pretty sure that level of stupid is intentional. Whether the producers are trying to draw people in by pandering to their ego (Hey, I'm smarter than that TV Chick) or actually talking to people who are that dumb, I can't help but think this was on purpose.

ETA - just watched the vid. come on guys, this woman has a visible look of pain on her face when she asks if a meteor is an effect of global warming lol I think she was pissed they made her read that line.

So, 12" of snow is a consequence of climate change? I thought it was a consequence of "winter".

Now, a 60" snow... That would be an anomaly worth raising questions over. But... come on. A foot of snow? That's not so outrageous. Who are the simps these snake oil salesmen are selling this crap to?

In all fairness, it's claimed that Long Island, NY had over 2 1/2 feet and the same is said to be true for parts of CT and other states. http://www.chron.com/news/article/Eastern-Long-Island-sees-more-than-2-feet-of-snow-4265136.php

Here are some Weather Channel claims.

Plus, the lady also said global warming.

Of course, I do agree with you, but there were lots of near records reached.
Chasing a Record Portland, Maine: All-time record snowstorm (31.9"); Old record from Jan. 17-18, 1979 (27.1") Hartford, Conn.: (Bradley Field): Second-heaviest snowfall on record (22.3)"; record is from Jan. 12, 2011 (24"). Worcester, Mass.: Third heaviest snowstorm all-time (28.7"); Record is 33" from "April Fools' 1997". Concord, N.H.: Second heaviest snowstorm all-time (24"). Boston (Logan Airport): Fifth heaviest snowstorm on record (24.9").

The community I live in received 13 to 20 inches (the worst snow storm of my life). That meant the roads were hard to travel on for around 6 hours starting around midnight on Friday evening until the early morning hours of Saturday.

The storm was certainly among the top five to affect Southern New England and Maine and for some localities,
the worst winter storm on record (going back 300 years since European inhabitants began keeping track of such things).

It seems the highest snowfall report in Connecticut from Nemo has been 40” at Hamden

It can probably be said that winter storm Nemo was the 2nd most intense winter storm event for Long Island, Connecticut, eastern Massachusetts, and perhaps Rhode Island.

The amazing structure of [Nemo] resembles a hurricane with an eye structure.
This feature was also seen with Sandy last October and the ‘Perfect Storm’ of October 28, 1991.

And with a variety of low pressure systems.

Damn....I almost feel bad that I was outside working in the yard in shorts and wife beater today sweating my ass off, then I remember the last big storm like this in '03/'04 in New Hampshire, and shoveling snow in it-my neighbors driveways too-they were all Navy and underway, and everyone of their wives were too pregnant to shovel it themselves. Sucks being a nice guy sometimes, as I was also the only person out there doing it. Also couldn't get to my car I left on base for 2 weeks, she just sat there in her ice cocoon waiting for warmer weather.

If it makes anybody that's up there feel better, I actually took my shirt off at one point wile working today, it was pretty damn warm. Bout to go take a shower, even got pretty sweaty, too.:D:p
