Clinton / Obama tickets vs Romney / Paul ticket

I would be surprised if anyone asked Paul to run as veep.

Millions of supporters, huge fundraising ability, and appeal to independents.

Also keep in mind that if Ron is not invited onto a ticket, he is likely to run independent and torpedo whomever the GOP nominee is. We are in a strong position, make no mistake.

Clinton/Obama is a juggernaut.

if RP gets 15-20% of the US vote - i'll bet Romney will pick Ron Paul over anyone else. If RP pulls off 40% of the US vote and Romney has 20-30% i'll bet RP will pick Romney. It's a matter of getting the largest % of the population vote especially if and when Hillary and Obama team up. IMO Huckaboom, McCain, Thompson, and Giuliani do not fit with Romney or Paul.

I can't see it happening CareerTech, the differences are too profound

as far as im concerned, if Romney wins the GOP will lose the presidency, the house, the senate and they will have to return to their ways, maybe under a slightly more charismatic version of RP (Sanford?)

thats where compromise comes in - Ron Paul and Romney are experts at compromise - and they will do it for the benefit of the american people

and i really dont think they are all too far apart -

RP & Romney - neither one of them are in this race for their own interests or for power. They are in this because they truly feel they can make a difference. I question the motivations of every other dem and rep candidate.

If Ron Paul were to accept this I would support him.

What's the alternative?

Votiing for Clinton/Obama

Voting 3rd party

Not voting.

Ron Paul has never compromised :) that's why they call him Dr. No and even Newt Gingrich gave him a pass from the Republican whip in the 1990's and didn't disclipline his dissent

I'm actually not repulsed by the idea. Out of all the other candidates besides Dr. Paul, Romney is the least repulsive. A VP spot for Paul wouldn't be a bad thing. I know it would be a compromise, but considering any of the Democrat alternatives , it's a compromise I'd be willing to live with.

You're kidding right? Romney is a lackey to the pharmaceutical lobby. The man will continue persecuting sick patients who just want to use their medicine in accordance to state laws. He IS definitely in it for the power.

Romney is as slimy as they come:

Ron will never be Mitt's VP never. Mitt supports whatever he thinks the voters will vote for. He is like a chameleon shifting his postitions on whatever will give him the most votes. Its about him being the most powerfull person in the world. Its a game for Mitt. If Mitt thought that more people who wore hats would vote for him then Mitt would wear a hat. He doesn't want to be president to be a voice for the people but to be only for himself. I would never vote for anyone other than Ron & that includes writing him in

we'll have to agree to disagree -

Romney is a good guy - a good father and grandfather and husband. he's been married like 37 years, Ron Paul like 50 years.

Romney is not looking for power. Once you build a company you start to be worth $50B in assets - (see www.baincapital.com) you have plenty of power without being president. It is a pain in the butt to run for president and the most stressful job in the world. I wouldnt want the job. I admire Paul and Romney for both of their motivations to do this is truly out of a desire to serve.

Romney has said he will give 100% of the presidential or VP salary back to the US / he wont take a salary.

Let's see how this shakes out - Romney used to be my #1 candidate until i researched and read up on Ron Paul - thats when I joined the movement for Ron Paul. I will stick with Ron Paul to the end but I'm also being practical based on the the #'s across the board - and if you listen on CNN and NBC they are starting to hint at a Obama Clinton ticket. I've been predicting the Obama Clinton ticket will be the attempted knock out punch (and as a prior poster mentioned they are a juggernaut) against the rep party. Let's get RP's #'s up there at least to 15-20% of the USA vote if not more and then at least we have hope of getting RP in the white house.

as the economy continues to get worse - and RP's #'s grow - perhaps romney and ron paul will put forth a package that includes getting out of iraq and how to turn the country around.

we are headed into a recession

Romney is right under McCain on my list of people i'd never, ever vote for.

Does anyone have Romney's recent quote about bringing troops home from abroad? I heard about it, but didn't read the specifics?

Romney wants to eliminate income tax for everyone making 200,000 or less.

If Romney got the ticket, he would have to pull us out of Iraq. Otherwise, I don't see Paul joining him. I don't think Romney is a civil rights advocate either.

difference between civil rights and civil liberties. the former are what force private property owners and businesses to engage in race-based preferential treatment, and the latter are what our constitution guarantees and our nature demands. be careful with the confusion, it's easy to be swayed toward 'civil rights' causes that actually undermine civil liberties.

Let's also consider this: who else is Romney even going to get to run with him? All the other GOP candidates hate him and have dissed him hardcore. Only Ron has been nice to him. Rudy would not accept VP, as this would be a blow to his massive ego.

Aside from RP, Romney's only choice would be a governor or something.

I do think Romney needs to apologize to Ron Paul for his comments at the last faux debate

Ron Paul was defending Romney on Jay Leno against attacks against Romney's religion
