Also, when Epstein was asked if he had been in the company of underage girls with Trump, he plead the 5th, even after answering other questions. That was in addition to Trump commenting that Epstein was a fun guy to be around and enjoyed "beautiful women" like Trump does, that are on the "younger side". It certainly is a totality of circumstances conclusion but well grounded.

The FBI probably told him to go dark during their investigation considering the nature of the allegations and report. Frankly, his fault contacting him directly and not being ready to protect himself for such behavior.
